Pilot model fo F-16
-
Ok, for anyone still confused by the post-update installation, a step has been left out of the discussion so far. Or, rather, more accurately, a step that you used to have to do is no longer required.
From Harpoons Readme.txt, you skip step 9. (Select LOD no. 82).
So, to put it context of the rest of the install instructions:
1. !!!Create a backup of files (not folders) in:
<dir>\Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects!!!
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds files in<dir>\BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj
3. Open LOD Editor, enter ‘2’ in the box next to ‘normal’
4. Click on ‘normal’, then ‘1’ under “Edit”
8. Click on ‘Select LOD’
9. Click ‘ok’ in the pop-up dialog box, don’t change any numbers here.
10. Select Action>Append/replace texture
11. Select 8018.dds and 8019.dds
12. Click on ‘Action’>replace model
13. Choose ‘loaded.lod’ from the archive.
14. When the LE changes appearence you can close it down.
15. Enjoy your new body! This is what worked for me, hope this helps.
PS - Still, its curious why we are getting different LOD#'s for parent ‘2’. Copper seems to be getting 7544, wolf123 got 7323, and I’m getting 7318.</dir>
</dir>
I have the “legs only” mod working ok in my Korea theater on all my F-16 Block variants using “Zanders” procedure so i tried installing them into my Israeli theater.
The “legs” are showing up within the Egyption, Jordanian, American, Dutch, Norweigen F-16 cockpits but for some reason they are not working when i select any of the Israeli F-16’s…… any pointers as to what i’m doing wrong.
I’m guessing it’s something to do with the theater LOD database, but to be honest i’m not sure what i’m doing with the LOD editor.
Regards…

Thanks weepopYou must first install pilot model as you see in this thread then simply copy\paste the file in installation (C:\Program files\Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\koreaobj)
wich you may found in this post:https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?12263-Korea-kneemap&highlight=korea+kneemap

In case I want to revert back without the body what can u do? In case u don’t have a backup?
Please I would appreciate it much.In case I have it right…
In a clean install I go with LE to normal 1 then export the LOD and copy the corresponding textures.
Then go to the pilot modeled install select normal 1 and
Click on ‘Select LOD’ then
Select LOD no. 82 then
Select Action>Append/replace texture then
select the original textures then
‘Action’>replace model then Choose the previous exported lod?Is that correct?
Edit looking at the models I see it’s in normal 2 and not 1 as the guide says… Hmmm which one ? 1 or 2?

And/or in BMS 4.33, if possible, as a choice in the config editor!

LOD Editor gives me a migraine everytime.

I’ve got some experience with LE but the problem is: you only have to click one wrong button and bang, there goes your db integrity.

hmmm Till now no one said the most easiest way to go back and forth for this wonderful mod.
Before installing this mod.
U go to LE.
Select your lod according to theater…
example for Aegean: 2 Normal.
then click Edit Mode button repeatedly until it says Export Mode.
Now click under edit on 1 button and save it asNo Pilot.lod
Now from Harpoons installation zip u need:
1. The 2 dds files. Put them in the objects folder
like: C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj
or your corresponding theater objects folder
example for Aegean:
C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On Aegean\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj
2. The loaded.lod have it somewhere u know where it is.
Open LE.
Select your lod according to theater…
example for Aegean: 2 Normal.
then click Edit Mode button repeatedly until it says Replace Mode.
Now click under edit on 1 button and select the
loaded.lod
Then click Update.
Then Go To… -> CT Records then exit LEEnjoy your Pilot Body…
If u think he is ugly then re do the steps only now select the exported No Pilot.lod and u are back to your pit as u where…
If u want only the Legs from this point follow the steps from Post no1 and delete the body… If u want export it also as Pilot only legs.lod just in case u reinstall at some point…
And this concludes our small no mess up tutorial…

Hi,
I installed Harpoons pilot in the Korea-, Aeagean and Balkan theater and it works fine… but in the Israel theater it does not work. Anyone an idea?

There are different parents and LODS for cockpits of IAF aircraft in IT. If originally you needed to edit parent 2, then the matching parents in IT are 3145 (lod 7387) and 3147 (lod 7389). Edit both of these, and parent 2 for the pilot model to appear in all aircraft.
Just beware that a model change changes the DB and is possibly multiplayer critical. -
Thanks for the information (and warning).

This file is in photoshop format and only important if you want to edit it via photoshop (or similar app) and save it as DDS file.
