Free Head tracking system, if you have a smartphone !!!
-
There is a free solution for headtracking, if you have a smartphone with a gryo (and most models have one) check this video on yt!
I myself have headtracking system, but I use this method for my 10 year old son, he flies here more Falcon BMS, plays Truck simulator 19 and farming simulator 19.
And I have to say this works perfectly!
Made a hat where I stitched in a piece of towel in, and his phone slides in.
Now he wears a hat every time he plays with his PC.greetz Goose

I had this Setup for testing purpose as well, it works to a certain extend, at least on my testing I had to readjust mappings as well as restarting the phone app from time to time during use. But the main reason I don’t use it as cause it’s 3DOF.
By just spending about 10€ you could build yourself a IR based headtracking (using the same Software opentrack) and have a more stable 6DOF headtracking as well. -
I was on youtube trying to figure out how to do that, when I came across this video, for my son that’s more than enough… He is more than happy with it
The regular track ir is of course much more fun, I fly that way
But it’s already a lot better than having nothing.
Maybe something for people who fly without track ir.
They can try it, to see what the difference is…Grtz

I tried setting this up but couldn’t get the phone (android) to talk to the computer. I tried doing it through WiFi and then also through USB, opened the ports, etc. but no luck. I might try again in a week or two when I’m a little less busy

Thanks for the tip about this application. I am using a Delanclip normally, but this was not half bad. The “look closer” feature that you get with a full Track IR solution, you can largely get by zooming in or out. Not as smooth, but still functional
