Any Vocola 3 users out there?
-
I’ve recently got a DIY headtracking clip to work, and wanted to try a voice command system for a full experience. The problem is, I’m on a tight budget and with a flaky throttle pot, so this means funds available for new software are basically zero. I don’t like the idea of getting a free trail for something I can’t buy, anyway, so software most people use is right out. I’ve used a free voice command software a long time ago, but I can’t remember what it was, and it wasn’t very good anyway. Now, I came across a thing called Vocola 3, which extends the Windows Speech Recognition, and seems to be able to do pretty much everything that VoiceAttack does.
My question is, had anyone actually used it, and if so, is it a good alternative to payware solutions?

Don’t know about Vocola. I personally didn’t regret the 11€ I spent on VoiceAttack. But Another free opensource Voice control software that look promising is

Thanks, I’ll check it out. I’m currently trying to get my mic to work at all (with WSR), but once I do, I’ll see what it can do.

Voice Macro seems to work pretty great, though I now have to remember to push the comms switch. Once I’m done, I’ll publish a profile on it, so far I got ATC, AWACS and tanker comms working (I hope, testing was rather brief).
Now I only need to find a list of callsigns for everything.

i
m also working on a VoiceMacro profile and trying to achieve same results with callsign variables i
ll be impressed if you can magic a profile up as currently im stuck in making it achieve the results but for full callsign list check this thread, copy and paste them to your profile (i tried Prefixes and suffixes to no such luck)…https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?18261-KEYSPEECH-PROFILES-FOR-ALL-CALLSIGNS!!! -
It also works great for voice activation

Of course it does, I deliberately set it up to use the PTT switch. Not only that, I didn’t just set up it up as a simple “ignore voice commands”, but a conditional statement, so for commands that go over victor I’ll have to push a different button, and talking to crew chief on the ground doesn’t require pushing anything at all. That’s how the real Viper does it, after all. Comms up=uniform, comms down=victor.

sounds good (no pun) hurry and get this out there

I’ve run into a bit of a snag with callsigns. VM doesn’t like the combinatoric explosion that comes from having a full list of 25 F-16 callsigns + two numbers + 14 major airbases. That alone results in 12400 combinations, which then get multiplied by 50 or so macros, each of which is multiplied further by alternate phrasings, of which there are from 2 to 10 or so. Turns out, VM doesn’t like having to deal with over a million possible phrases. My current solution is to get rid of the numbers (replaced by just a single “one one”, there’ll be a profile for each position in the flight) and remove airbase names.
That said, the first test version should be good soon.

The solution is easy ATC, 1 second delay and phrase

my Solution so far has worked for Ground,TOWER Approach etc etc,EG the voice macro is “Ready for Departure” can be stated within the phrase "Kunson tower falcon 11 –-Ready for departure-- " a slight pause is needed and it will recognize this (pause indicated by the dashes)… other than that if you place Challice,Magic etc for AWACS groups in prefix and eg want to request picture it wont issue the command unless you say “chalice request picture” thus it wont work if you state “chalice 1 falcon 11 request picture” regardless of the pause …

Well, you can do something like that in what I did, but “Tower”, “Ground”, “Approach” and so on need to be part of the command, because there are several commands (declare emergency, for instance) that are shared among the agencies, and there has to be a way to specify. TBH, I don’t like this idea, since such a pause sounds unnatural, but it’s the only way to get it to work right now.

yeah it is not ideal… on another note this what i put for overhead break……Overhead Break;[one;two;three;four] in the break……it works quite well
-
Yeah, I’m doing something similar. I think I’ve got ATC figured out, in fact, though it obviously needs testing. Right now I’m focusing on stuff that goes over Victor, and I think I need to take a break and train WSR a bit more, since it doesn’t seem to get it when I say “two”. As a workaround, I’ve temporarily added “Dole” (the word it most often mishears “two” as). I suppose there are worse callsigns out there…
ATC is mostly unproblematic, however wingman commands might have issues, as they’re a lot shorter. Besides the “Dole” issue it seems to work, but I’m still in process of adding macros.

You know that you can add single words to you WSR dictionary. So better that way than adding false words to the Voice Macro

The thing is, it does know about the word “two”. It’s just that it steadfastly refuses to interpret my pronunciation of it as such. Blame my accent. Don’t worry, the hack isn’t staying in the final version.

So, there’s been a lot going on lately, including my country going on lockdown, me having money to spend, my dad getting a 3D printer… Long story short, VM profile ended up on backburner, and I might end up buying VA once it goes on a sale on Steam (it occasionally does). I will get back to it, though. If anyone reading this has VR experience, feel free to take a look at yet another thing that delayed this.
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?29402-BMS-in-VR/page38The issue with “two” has been resolved, BTW. I managed to get it to recognize what I say. The profile is nearly ready, in fact. Just needs some minor adjustments and testing. It has limitations, but it works nicely. I’ll make another thread when it’s up and running smoothly.
