Cougar won't download JS/Macro files
-
Greetings folks,
I think my poor girl is giving up the ghost. For some reason when I put the Cougar into “Emulated Button/Axis” mode the CCP eventually times out and then the Cougar disconnects. I’ve done the re-flashing multiple times but doesn’t seem to help. Thought I bricked it, but holding the trigger while plugging it in help to recover. (Thank God) I think the JS/Macro files do get downloaded. But of course when I put it into emulated mode is when it fails.
Has anyone encountered something like this and managed to recover?
The way BMS has evolved it seems that the User Mode really isn’t required. So I flashed again, set the axis and recalibrated. Using the DUNC_DX method the stick works just fine. All buttons register as expected and all axis are set up correctly. (Even the Micro Stick is working really well) If I remember correctly when the Cougar first came out (I got one right away) the User Mode was necessary. It was nice have view and other such keyboard requests available on the HOTAS. Such as locking a target then SHIFT/IFF UP doing the AWACS “Declare!”.
I really don’t want to give this girl up. I got the original Gimble Uber mod (Can’t ever remember his name. From Down Under I think) and the Cubby Hol Sensor mod for stick and throttle. So you can imagine how I’m really reluctant to put her down after nearly 20 years. (But I did order a new Warthog HOTAS just in case)
I appreciate anybody’s feedback and suggestions on this.
Thanks,
-Matt

These days, the programmed mode isnt necessary. If you use DX, you can still have multiple functions on the stick.
If you have ordered a new Warthog, you might consider trying the Warthog stick alongside the Cougar throttle.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been thinking too. I ordered the TUSBA R2 the other day. So between all these technologies I should be able to get a decent HOTAS set up.
