Mouse pointer speed in cockpit in 4k
-
Hi all,
I’m running 4.35 on a new system which can easily handle 4k. Configuration was just as easy with any other version, however, I’ve never played beyond 1080p before. In 4K, the problem I have is that the mouse cursor is incredibly slow. It’s fine in the menus (whih ae obviously stretched and not in 4k), but in the cockpit it’s awful. Would really appreciate some help, as I can’t seem to find this in the view settings. No, I’m not talking about mouselook sensitivity, I’m talking about moving the cursor/pointer in the cockpit.
Many thanks,
Janwender

[Sorry for late reply … was looking for a different thread and saw this.]
In ‘falcon bms.cfg’ there is a line item
set g_fMouseSensitivity 1.0 // 3D mouse sensitivity multiplier
I fly 1440p and 1.0 seems pretty fast and twitchy … I have mine turned down to 0.2, for smoother mouselook panning and easier time targetting small buttons and knobs.
Edit:
There is also a mouselook sensitivity slider on the in-game setup screen … not sure how that relates to g_fMouseSensitivity in the cfg file. (I assume former applies to mouselook / pov panning and the other is for mouse-cursor movement speed.)As far as I can tell, BMS doesn’t apply apply any* of the mouse-velocity or -acceleration curves from Windows desktop control panel. It listens to DirectInput (or RawInput?) APIs which send physical motion of the mouse hardware, unadulterated.
(*BMS does seem to honor SM_SWAPBUTTON user preference … which is nice, and typically only requires 1 or 2 lines of code to swap the left/right button flags.)
