Helios and MFDE
-
Hi,
It would seem like most are using Helios/MFDE/YAME etc local, i.e. on the same PC that runs BMS. I’d like to do it on a networked PC, but information on how-to is very limited.
Is there anybody out there that could give me a few pointers for:
-Getting HELIOS to work on a networked 2nd PC
-Getting MFDE to work on a networked 2nd PC
-Maybe later, getting YAME to work on a networked second PC.Unless of course most of HELIOS/MFDE/YAME users feel that the system resources required for running these is limited and has no performance impact on BMS?
Thanks!

The performance impact on your PC from Helios and Same / MFDE is dependent on your PC hardware. The biggest performance impact to BMS is lower frame rates when extracting displays, regardless if its BMS, YAME, or MFDE doing it. Simply enabling windows extraction in BMS will drop you a few frames in BMS. My experience that the added performance from Helios/YAME/MFDE is minimal on my system.
The only reason I saw that possibly you would want to have a second PC is so any touch interactions don’t go directly to BMS PC, but then you have the added network delay which is minimal but is slower than everything being on the same PC IMO.

I’m running Helios and MFDE both on my main PC. The overall impact on RAM is less then 200MB and CPU less than 5% so no need to network anything.
Another thing to take into concideration is networked adds another layer of timing onto itMFDE is network enabled out of the box but still the most impact is enabling extraction in BMS itself which would still the case even if MFDE or other stuff is running on a networked PC.
For Helios you could run it networked as well but still need the Helios keypress receiver running on your main PC. Another concideration is if you are using Falcon Interface functions within your helios profile you would have to establish an shared memory mirror from your main to your network PC.
And again your not gaining really resourcesGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk

Thx, guys!
Looks like I’ll be testing local first. I know BMS extraction had a massive fps impact on my system, but I’ll try MFDE and/or YAME then Helios locally and report back. -
