Touchscreen with Yame and Helios
-
Hi guys,
after a lot of yers I am returning to Falcon.
What a great development!
I am strarting from the scratch…My problem:
I want to add external touchscreen to main screen and I tried Yame. It goes pretty well either on the same computer or on the networked PC (RWR, DED, screens of MFDs).
BUT when I try to push a button on my Yame window, the cursor loses focus and goes to the left corner. It is problem both with mouse and touchscreen. It is written in the documentation of Yame that buttons should work when correct callbacks are entered. So I am stuck. I tried some but without any success.I searched the forum and there is the common advice to combine Yame with Helios. I am in the stage of start of Helios. And I suppose the questions about Helios will come soon:)
So my questions are:
- Is it possible to cover ICP, MFD, RWR and eyebrows (with functional buttons) with Yame 1.2 only?
if not, there is the question 2: - Can be combination of Yame and Helios used on network? Main computer for BMS, Yame server + ??? and the second PC for Yame client and Helios?
Plese be gentle: I am in the stage of trying Helios, but I consider to buy All in One PC with touchscreen and the auction is close to end (2 days):D
Thanks
Libor - Is it possible to cover ICP, MFD, RWR and eyebrows (with functional buttons) with Yame 1.2 only?

1 no you need Helios for eyebrow with buttons
2 I would recommend to use MFDE (Display /Gauges) Extraction and Helios for Inputs/Lights/Button switches no issues with mouse focus if running on the same PC with BMS
Both in combination use little resources (max5%CPU and 200MB Ram on my system)
For networking the above solution would be able to run networked but you won’t gain anything as you still would have to have the RTT extraction enabled on the Main PC and keypress receiver server and extraction server
Only use case to network I could think of is having as many displays that the GPU on the Main PC is running out of slots

Thank you oakdesign.
So MFDE + Helios.
The reason for possible network is easy.
I play on the livingroom PC - my wife kicked me out of my home office:) on the 48" monitor. It is HTPC (with enough resources for the BMS).
But I need “mobile table” to use Cougar HOTAS and so the possibility to use touchscreen on this special table is here.
Usage another PC means I will connect only 1 USB for the HOTAS and one cable to the power socket.
If touchscreen is connected to main PC the video cable must be connected too.
Thanks
