Difference between TM Cougar and TQS?
-
Hi All
Tired of waiting for TM to release a new F16 throttle, I just spent a few hours reading this forum to get up to speed on the Cougar so I can make fixes and upgrades when my untested eBay special arrives in the mail. Today it arrived and I was surprised to see it is a TQS instead of a Cougar.
I plan to keep it and try my project anyway. Is the information about metal Cougar accurate for plastic TQS, or are they totally different animals? If I add a arduino and connect it to upgraded pots, thumbstick, etc should it work the same as a Cougar?
Thanks!

Two different animals. You can convert the TQS though I have the Cougar and have been working on getting it up and running.

I’ve converted a metal Cougar throttle with a Bodnar board, but the fast, easier way is to use a TUSBA R2 from Realsim -

Plug, program, play. Unfortunately for me, these came out after I did my conversion…but I have one of these too, on a second Cougar throttle.

Hi JUmp,
That’s an interesting idea and I am looking at it pretty hard right now. I was planning to start by building a TUSBA knockoff like Uri_ba: (https://pit.uriba.org/uriba/standalone-cougar-tqs-part-i/) but now I understand my TQS will have different pinouts, etc. Have you heard of anyone converting a “classic” TQS ?
Edit: Looks like there is a well-documented method -

Might you want to look at this, for the Suncom F-15 set?
