Saitek X65 Rotary Centering
-
Anyone encountered this problem? Or better yet have a solution.
Already tried the driver and software removal and reinstallation dance several times without success.X65 was working great for several weeks. After reconnecting it from 2 weeks storage in the closet, the rotary 1 and 2 became off centered. I usually disconnect and reconnect after each use without any problems before. I am using Win 7 x64 and Saitek Driver: 7.0.10.6 (also tried 7.0.9.16), Software: 7.0.9.16.
Anyone know if moving the deadzones bars to center in the new position (position #2 in the picture) makes Windows or the software shift the actual center point to the new (off center) point?

I don’t know the cause exactly but likely a program called DXTweak2.exe (4.30) by the Logitech wingman team can help. It allows you to edit directly Windows game controller calibration data.

Downloaded the program, but it would not run.
Get an windows error when opening the program with the x65 plugged in, and get a no game controllers found when not plugged in.Anyone knows how to get DXTweak2 to work in Win 7 x64?
Looks like a good utility for customizing joystick calibration problems. -
Found another utility DIview which worked in redefining the center point.
Hope this helps others with similar issues.http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=page&id=12
I don’t understand why Saitek doesn’t include this type of utility in their software. This could potentially solve a lot of problems people are having with their product. Maybe even add some type of filter to reduce random signal noise like in head tracking software (FacetrackNoIR, opentrack, etc.) - not a programer so I don’t know how difficult it is to do.
From what I understand (from Googleling), off centering can be caused by USB power not supplying exactly 5V to the joystick or device. So different computers can potentially center differently depending on how exact the USB is providing 5V; which kind of make sense why all of a sudden my x65 becomes off center.
