Throttle lube suggestions
-
Hi can anyone recommend a good lube for throttle moving parts. I have a virgil CM2 and it is getting a little creaky, still very smooth but there is a new sound going on. I have access to auto shops, bike shops etc. Some brands that they offer are Loctite but there are so many types so it’s a jungle for me.
Thanks

I’m a big fan of plain (original/unflavored) Chapstick. Cheap, readily available, and doesn’t degrade plastic or rubber - doesn’t really break down over time, and is not easily impeded by dirt. For metal only parts, definitely a good machine oil - but for plastic on plastic, I’ve been using Chapstick for years with great success.

Hi Semler, I looked that up, seems to be a US brand but available here in DK as well. Just to make sure, you mean their lip balm product?

Yes - specifically that company, cannot attest for any other. More solid than food grade silicone lubricant (which is recommended for rubber/plastics) so it can stay in place as a glob for internal parts, or a light film for external parts such as spring pivots for flight sticks. Found it years ago from a reddit all about the best methods to eliminate squeak in various gaming gear with plastic-on-plastic contact, or improve smooth glide such as flight stick pivots or throttle axes.
There may be something better out there, but for as cheap and readily available as it is (at least in the USA), chapstick is easy to recommend for as well as it works. I can’t even remember the last time I had to apply some to my G933 wireless headset, where the ear cup pivots used to squeak to high heaven from any adjustment, and being more waxy than oily, it really stays in place without leaking out.

Calcium sulfonate
This. Whatever you get something safe for all appropriate materials, low operating temperature, low velocity, and NLGI 2. You want thick.

Nyogel 767a on my TWCS was a game changer.

Plain ordinary Copper Grease - being using it and recommending it for more than a decade.
