IVC issues

hi guys. a friend of mine’s IVC keeps turning itself down to ludicrously low volumes. we’ve tried disabling gain control and it still does it(?) is there anyway to prevent it from doing that? he can barely hear anything and we can’t figure out how to get it to knock it off. we’ve tried inputting the /U+6 switches as recommended by that one website that talks about it with no great success.
is there a way to force it to be a higher volume? the UHF / VHF volume is maxed out in falcon, if that affects it?
pls help

I had this issue and had to reinstall FalconBMS after trying to troubleshoot. No clue as to why it happened, but it only happened on my PC in MP, acting as host, and only I had to reinstall. When I was flying non-MP, volume was ok. Volume was low on my side, but my wingman could hear me and the Tower, AWACS, etc. OK. I made no changes to anything on my PC when it happened.

Can you confirm if your friend has any other voice comms software running at the same time?
I had something similar and it turned out to be the Automatic voice gain control in TeamSpeak 3 which is on by default. Once I switched that off (Settings > Options > Capture > Advanced Options) the problem was resolved.

Check my conversion guide linked below under the IVC section.

he does. we run mumble just for out of sim chitchat. next time we get together we’ll kill it before we go in-game and see if something in that’s screwing it up.

alright with a battery of quick tests we have learned the following:
mumble sound attenuation does nothing (?)
IVC’s volume in general makes no difference. it’s volume seemed to switch around randomly. originally we were at +6, then +2 no difference. then for some reason UHF changed to -10, but there was no difference. what
also force local control seems to break everything so that’s out
welp
edit: i checked your PDF mower (thanks!) and it says that the VOL switch near comm 1 / 2 is modelled and that right-clicking it increases IVC volume. however me and a buddy have been clicking the hell out of it trying to hear a change in it at all and have had no luck. is this no longer modeled? it seems like it would solve our problem but maybe it’s already at max volume or something?
-
any chance you have the IVCvsAi volume axis enabled - of if not as an axis, the keystrokes conflicting?
-
unless that is by default on, no. i’ve never heard of it so changing it is out of the question
edit: no idea if that is what you are talking about, but we’ve found something that sounds similar in the BMS keybindings and gave it a shot. still seems to make no difference, or at least a difference that i can’t distinguish.
could be something else though.

IIRC you have to use the mouse scroll wheel over it. Cant test that, at work.

Moved thread to the more fitting Tech Support category.

I have always adjusted my IVC volume in the windows “Volume Mixer”
There’s no inpit control that I"m aware of.
-
it’s at max.
still very quiet.

I have the very same problem. Everyone sounds quiet as a mouse on IVC, add engine noise on top of that and it’s impossible to make anything out. I’ve tried all these solutions (other than disabling ts3 gain, will let you know if that works…) to no avail.
However Cik, I have a very inconvenient and annoying solution in the interim: I use a program called DFX Audio Enhancer to boost the audio levels of my speakers. I then lower all the in game audio sliders except comms much lower to compensate. This allows me to communicate in multiplayer, although it is STILL hard to hear people clearly sometimes. It’s also one more additional program to setup and run specifically for BMS, which is a long list as it is.
Hopefully someone out there has run into this and has a better solution…

ts3 gain?
explain?

That.

That.
hmm. not sure if he’s running ts3 in the background. next time we fly i’ll ask. otherwise though it’s pretty doubtful that that’s making a difference, unless mumble also has a similar function and that’s causing the same problem. from a brief glance it doesn’t look like it though.

Just an update, disabling TS3 auto gain had no effect on this issue. Can also confirm the VOL knob has no effect while in game. Interestingly, IVC doesn’t appear in the windows volume panel, but I assume it’s being pumped into the Falcon process?
I’m at a loss with this one, guess I’ll have to stick with my speaker hack.
-
It should be there… you will need to alt tab out or run in window mode to get there easy,
Its only there while your actually connected. And I assume you have both check boxes in your phonebook item.
-
I assure you it is not:
And yes, all items checked in phonebook. Has anyone experimented with disabling IVC auto gain?
