New Landing Gear Panel DN Lock Release function
-
Hi all,
Given the new features 4.35 introduced for Landing gear panel I need to update my home cockpit.
For what I’ve understood, in case of solenoid failure, in real jet, the down lock release button needs to be pressed and hold while operating the landing gear handle. The DN Lock Relaese is a mechanical bypass, so I suppose I need to create a mechanism that phisically pulls out the solenoid shaft from the landing gear shaft housing, allowing the handle to freeley move up and down. For solenoid I understood that It can be operated from shared memory, that’s fine.
But for the DN Lock Release button, do I need to wire it to my input card and map it (add a keystroke) or simply use it just to phisically move out the solenoid shaft?
What happen if solenoid fails and i phisically remove the solenoid and lower the gear handle? Lower input is given because by lowering the handle i close a switch mapped ( let’s say “G” keystroke)? Does the LG lowers or not? It’s just like I press G key on my keyboard, meanwhile shared memory send to my solenoid a failure state.Hope my question is clear, I can resume that way:
Should I map the Home cockpit DN Lock Release button in BMS or use it only as a mechanical solenoid bypass?
I can’t test the behaviour in 3D till tomorrow, so I’d like to know if this procedure can be applied to the sim with my cockpit.
Thank you

The question would be
Would pressing the DN LOCK release button would change the solenoid state in the shared mem
If yes, we don’t need to build the mechanical bypass as in the real gear box.
If not, then we have no way to bypass the solenoid failed state and no way to lower our cockpit landing gear handleThere are two pitbuilder gear box type
A minority using the real gear box (with mechanical bypass)
a majority with custom made replica, often if not always without the mechanical bypass of the gear down lock release. => the action on the DN lock rel button should impact both the 3D pit and the sharedmemTBH, it’s a tricky one to test because you need to induce the solenoid fail and so far i wasn’t able to due to my inability to trigger that specific fault with the fault debug list. hence the question.

Mmm, sounds tricky.
My understanding is that Solenoid status can be driven by shared memory, meaning that if it fails, despite I press the white button located on my LG handle, it won’t pull out his shaft and I can’t lower the gear.
But you are telling me that DN lock release button should be wired (linked) to the solenoid also… that’s what I understand at least…I can replicate a mechanical FN L R button, but need to understand how it works in BMS, cause you said that needs to be linked to 3D also

would you be able to use this to slave in your home cockpit?
Tornado gear handle, works the same with the realise button…

My point is that I can create a mechanical bypass, no problem. What i need to know is, if i low the handle and close the switch, it will lower the gear or not? The switch closed is the gear down function, will it lower the gear or, given the solenoid fault, remains up? I will make some tests, need to understand the behaviour.

Probably when you release the handle and activate the switch, the switch has to send two events, the “lock release” and the “gear down”
