Can you remove the Idle detent in the Warthog Throttle?
-
For Jet sims its great but the Idle detent is a bit of a PITA with WWII sims and it’s ~ 10% of the overall throttle throw. I already have the “push-through” AB mod so that end is fine, is there a way to disable the Idle detent part of the throttle throw (or remove the detent in software) to make the whole range of travel smooth? It’s part of the arm as fas as hardware goes and is not a reversible mod, but can be done.

Edit! I stand corrected!
Read below. No, but youre not losing any range.
The idle detent is different than the AB detent.
While the range above the AB detent is part of the axis, the idle detent and below acts as a button. (Thats why if youre playing DCS A10, lifting the throttles over the idle detent starts the engines because that action pushes the engine start keyboard combo.) -

(Thats why if youre playing DCS A10, lifting the throttles over the idle detent starts the engines because that action pushes the engine start keyboard combo.)In IL2 Box and DCS Prop planes it acts as part of the overall throw of the throttle, not as an on/off button and is absolutely part of the overall axis movement. In IL2 I was able to overcome it by assigning a large (80%) DeadZone so I get full throttle stating at the Idle Detent through the AB detent to the stop. In DCS this “looks” like it going to work (using Saturation) in the Options/Controls window) but in the sim (using the BF-109K as an example) the idle detent upper stop is 1500 RPM and you need to lift and reverse it to get to idle, regardless of what it shows in Options… For BMS, all good, just asking here as many fly multiple sims…

Ok, solved. Just found the Warthog Throttle calibration software here. By ignoring the part which told me to set throttle to OFF (which means to lift the Idle Detent and go full back) and just leaving it at the Idle Detent stop, I now have full throttle from the Idle Stop to buried past AB! I have lost the “Idle Detent” capability (in BMS anyway) but really don’t care as it’s only used for Ramp starts and Alt-i works fine… :woohoo:
Edit for reference: Looking at the DX button screen in Win10 I see how DX 29 and 30 are in the ON state with the throttles out of the Idle position and OFF when you lift and pull the throttles Into the Idle Cutoff position so you were correct in that aspect Zeus, so I just set the release state (Idle detent) to Alt-i in BMS AL, seems to work fine!
