Problem With System Seeing Cougar after Windows Updates

I’ve had a windows OS update, now my system doesn’t recognize that my Cougar is connected. Any suggestions?

Have you tried re-flashing the cougar firmware? Sometimes this helps.

Yeah, if BMS ran on Linux!

I’ll have to research how to do that again. Its been a while since I’ve done that. I believe the instructions are on the Thrustmaster’s site. I think.

EDIT: Yep, it’s there. I’ll have to do this when I have some time.

IIRC it could happen that the Cougar drivers are just not regionized after the update.

The trick was IIRC… (german here so not 100% sure for terms in english windows)
Open device manager and search for the two cougar entries in the USB-Controller section.
They could be named unknown device now.

Right klick one entry and pick actualize driver. Let it search for drivers on your rig
and it should be found.

Eventually repeat for 2nd entry. (dunno, it has been a while since I did this)

Please try this before starting the hassle to flash your beloved Cougar.

IMHO flashing the Cougar should be the last option.
If your Cougar worked perfect before the update, then there is no need to flash.

It does Depending on the periphals that you’re using you can have a very good BMS experience on Linux. There is a small, but dedicated Linux community available here that will be happy to help with your setup.

I didn’t have to flash the firmware in the Cougar. Just disconnect, connect solved it. I wonder if the USB connection got lose?

Anyway, thanks for the advice.
