Solved Rampstart and canopy
-
Hello
During the rampstart, if you keep the canopy open and close it when the plane is at 2500 rpm or below (just before the click on the throttle), the start stops.
It is systematic.
Bug or not ? The closing of the canopy takes electrical energy but …
Maybe something already known (and normal too).

@rouge1512 as per design…
Don’t close it during start…

@rouge1512 In the real world the engine will suck everything from the cockpit that’s not firmly secured, so the safest procedure would be to close the canopy before engine is started. It will of course never happen in BMS that something would be sucked into the engine.

Thank you for your responses.
Yes, I do have to close the canopy before starting the engine, but the post was mainly to point out that although the closing is late (and therefore abnormal in terms of procedure), it doesn’t necessarily make sense for it to stop the engine start.
This is obviously not very annoying and there are other things to do …

@rouge1512
Page 14 of the BMS Manual.- Ensure the canopy is fully closed before engaging the JFS. Closing canopy during JFS operation may result in a failed JFS start or premature JFS shutdown due to a reduction in electrical power available to the JFS.

It is well received.
Thanks for the reference.

However, we’ve witnessed some cases were the canopy was raised during taxi for particular (demo) reasons. Of course everything should be tight and clean in the cockpit area, and mostly this is allowed with idle throttle. Advancing the throttle just to start taxing increases chances something loose might be sucked into the beasts mouth.
