Combination of TM Cougar Throttle with TM Warthog Stick
-
I have warthog stick + RS FSSB R3, cougar throttle + RS TUSBA R2, the best purchase ever, all keys working through DX values.

Thank you Greg for your helpful answer . You convinced me to buy the TUSBA R2.

Hi Sting,
I just have ordered the TUSBA, so I still don’t have made any experience. Maybe Greg could tell you more.

How do you work out the dx value assigned to a button?
For example, launch bms, go to settings, select a keyfile, find e.g. the stick pickle record line, click on this line, it will turn green meaning waiting to accept a keypress from you, press the pickle on your warthog/cougar stick, there you go, you now have assigned pickle as DX value. Similar continue with any other keypresses assigned to external hardware, either hotas, usb controllers etc. Don’t forget to save the keyfile afterwards, these DX values will be saved at the end of your *.key file located at C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Config
That is the quick and easy way. There can be more stuff added but you need deeper knowledge, not necessary at this point.

Hi Guys!
So with the release of 4.33 I’ve decided to try and set up my Warthog stick to work with my Cougar throttle.
I used to be able to play around in Foxy a couple of years ago but (a) that was ages ago and (b) I’ve had breakfast since then so my recollection isn’t the sharpest!
I’m using the Dunc_DX tmj & tmm files via Foxy on the Cougar, but have no idea what needs to be done with the Warthog stick.
So far I have all the axes working correctly, but I’m struggling with assigning the functions to the stick. TMS and DMS work but struggling with:
MSL Override/NW Steering
POV hat only controls trim whilst shifted (I want it un-shifted)
Paddle doesn’t apply wheelbrakesI thought I could just go into the controller setup screen in the sim and set these up, but it doesn’t seem to work……
Does this need to be edited in the BMS-Full.key file?
Has anyone out there done this already (without a TUSBA) and is willing to share their setup files?
Cheers!

This is the setup I’m using for BMS: Warthog stick (FSSB R3, but still using the warthog PCB so I can use TARGET for programming), Cougar throttle, Simped F-16 Rudder pedals. I use CCP to disable the cougar x and y axes and I use TARGET to remap the remaining axes and to assign DX button mapping to the throttle. I’ll have to wait 'til I get home tonight to send you my setup files. I have modified the BMS-Full.key file to work with this setup. My key file also sets up two cougar MFD files, but not having them will not cause any issues.

Thanks for the reply Goblin.
After a bit of work/trial and error I managed to get my setup working.
I used the DuncDX_replacement Foxy files from the BMS 4.33 Cougar files (in the BMS directory) and modified the BMS_Full.key.
Tips for young players:
1. In the Controllers screen in BMS select the Warthog stick as the primary controller
2. Select the BMS_Full.key file and then systematically go through the ‘stick’ part of the file and re-map all the DX buttons on the warthog stick (then click ‘save as’ and rename the file!)
3. Set up the axis as required in the Avionics tab
4. (AND THIS IS THE IMPORTANT ONE) leave Foxy and CCP OPEN when running BMS!!!So before I launch BMS I now run through a mini pre-flight checklist where I launch TrackIR, Foxy and CCP. I download the profile to my Cougar setup using Foxy and also use the Viewer in CCP to verify that all my axis are responding (especially the mouse cursor).
Once that all checks out I launch BMS.
I’m just writing all this in case it might be of use to others in the future.
Check six!
