Questions about the new improved Gamepad support in 4.37.2
-
This has the potential to be a game-changer for anyone with a low-end ordinary joystick – basically any stick with an 8-way hat and 4 buttons becomes a capable flight stick… kudos to the devs.
Q1: do the new left/right shifters work in conjunction with conventional dx-shift? (possibly allowing 1 physical button to do 5 different callbacks…)
Q2: is there any new or improved mechanism for throttle control? all the analog axes on typical console game controller snap-to-center, so I think it’s very tough to use as throttle. also, it’s been a while since I tried, but I remember the discrete key/button callbacks for inc/dec throttle were super sensitive (too coarse-grained)
Q3: also wondering about pov-control… it’s possible to use OpenTrack to map a thumbstick to 2dof head movement, but it’s a bit wompy. any new support built in to BMS?
