How to configure MFD Extractor?
-
Hello everyone,
I hope this post is in the right place, I apologize if it isn’t. I need some help to be able to configure MFD Extractor. I never used it before, and I don’t seem to be able to find a manual or help file to figure out how to do it. By digging on the install I saw there is a config file, but it doesn’t seem so friendly as RTT, and since I’m not a software wizard I’m having a little bit of a hard time trying to figure out the values, or what goes where within that file, so if anyone here knows how to do it, please I need your assistance, any help you can provide me will be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much in advance!

@Poppy You start up the program, it will be in your taskbar tray. right click it and select options. go through the tabs and select, server, client.
In my case , server, since its running on main PC. Then select the gauges you want to run.
click apply. Then OK out. Right click again and select START.
You should see black windows on your desktop. Click and drag where you want them.
You can also drag the corners to make bigger or smaller.
Once you start BMS, then you see them come to life.

@MudDog Hi and thanks for taking the time to send a response my way. What you described is exactly what I was trying to do after install, but the options window won’t pop out at all, and when that happened started looking trough the install files, trying to figure out what could’ve happened. On a different note, if I try to close the program from the tray (where all the hidden icons are) it won’t close, so I’m thinking that maybe should I do a reinstall maybe?.. It’s weird, I’m trying to run the 6_4_0 version, which supposedly will work without any problems under W 10/11…I’m at a loss here…

@Poppy hmmmm, try right clicking shortcut and “run as administrator “ maybe!?
I think I’m out of ideas. I just built a new PC last week. This weekends project is to install
All my BMS programs and cockpit stuff. Not looking forward to it.

@MudDog Yeah, I did that already, reinstalled it, and changed the properties to run as admin, and with win7 compatibility, it’s the same, the options window won’t come up on the screen…I’ll keep experimenting, I’ll let you know if I can get any success, I’ll see if I can contact Lightning (the creator of the program) through Viperpits.org, and I know it can be challenging to reinstall everything on a new pc, that’s what I’m going through now! Thank you very much for your time, I really appreciate it!

@VIPER-0 Thanks Viper! I figured out what was going on, the version I had installed (6_4_0) didn’t work right under w10 64, so I decided to install an older version (6_1_1) and now it works perfect! Thanks for taking the time to send a response my way, I appreciate it!

As far as I understand there are 2 versions that have the same number but different compilation, there is a 6.4.0 that if it runs on win10 and lets you get the image data through set g_bExportRTTTextures 1 but another compilation with the same version number 6.4.0 that No.

@VIPER-0 I didn’t know that, but at any rate, I made sure I had the right values on the BMS configuration file, but surely that didn’t help… but I’m happy that MFDE version 6_1_1 works, as I find it more complete and easy to configure than RTTRemote, since I can have instruments, gauges and other stuff extracted, and being just drag and drop is sweet as it can be, instead of figuring out pixel coordinates and other stuff required for RTTRemote.
