Blurred view when maneuvering in VR
-
Hello everyone!
I have a “blurred” view problem when I maneuver my plane.
If I’m in formation on another plane and I’m maneuvering, I see the other plane split/blurred during the maneuver. This doesn’t happen if I just move my head quickly.
It’s as if two slightly separate images are superimposed.
I don’t know if that’s clear?
Also, I don’t think it’s a problem of the computer’s power, as this doesn’t happen if I move my head quickly, everything remains perfectly clear.Computer specifications :
i5 13600k slightly overclocked
32gb DDR4
nVidia 4080
Samsung 960evo NVME SSD
Varjo Aero VR headset
Windows 10 updated with only BMS + steam VRContents of Falcon BMS user.cfg :
set g_nVRHMD 1 set g_bVRNoPresent 1 set g_fVRResolution 1 set g_bVRParallelRenderThread 1 set g_bShadowMapping 1 set g_bEnvironmentMapping 0 set g_bWaterEnvironmentMapping 0
No special settings for the nVidia drivers. Everything else in the sim is perfectly fluid.
If you have any leads, I’d love to hear from you Thanks a lot!

@Flow32 have you actually seen your frame rate? If less than refresh rate (90hz I believe for the Aero), you are probably experiencing reprojected frames, often called motion smoothing. SteamVR, Oculus software, etc. will reproject frames and often bounce your frame rate down to half your refresh rate so in your case it will attempt to make 45 new frames a second and fill in 45 that are just the previous one. This helps if you can’t run full refresh rate so make things more comfortable, but I tend to most notice artifacts like what your describing then.

@Snake122 OK thanks that might be a good lead. I tend to not look at FPS as long as it is smooth. I’ll investigate in the Varjo software.

@Flow32 for me as long as the FPS stays in the 60s it’s smooth enough to leave it off so I don’t get the blurs that kills my immersion. But your personal level may be different. But much below that it gets too jerky and I need it to be comfortable for long periods.

@Snake122 yes it does not kill my immersion, it is just comfort that we are talking about. I can clearly live with it, but I wanted to investigate
It is not jerky at all, even when maneuvering really fast. It just gets slightly blurry, with perfect smoothness haha
Thanks for your input.
