Querying BMS Database
-
Hi,
I would like to query the bms database (what is given in the Falcon Editor program in launcher) using SQL. Does anybody have information regarding this? (What dbms, a tool for it, what files?).
Thanks,

There is no tool ready to do that. The files, which contain the DB, are listed on PMC Tactical page, for example. Also how to parse them. There are though some differences between what PMC Tactical writes, and how the files used in BMS are structured. For example, the hack of adding an internal jamming at the end of the name of acd entry invented by SP3, if I remember correctly, is not listed by PMC.
Beware that after you managed to read and parse the files, and put your SQL query together, there is danger that in the next version of BMS, the internal file structure may change. External DB tools may not be supported at all in the future, according to some posts by BMS devs. IMHO, from my own experience trying to develop some DB tools for BMS, if the development team does not support it somehow, you are loosing your time.

All i need to do is extract current database information (weights and guidance types and stuff) for a tactical reference, I guess ill keep doing it my way just takes longer.
