-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated!
-
Still good for U1??
-
I’m sorry but I can’t personally confirm. I’m in the process of building a new flight sim cockpit
-
I guess I could check myself!:o
-
Greetings Ice. Great work. Thanks for sharing. Regards. Jay.
-
You’re welcome! A lot of people have learned Helios by reverse-engineering my profile, or taking my profile then customizing it for their own needs. I, myself, have learned this way as well!
If you need any more help, always feel free to ask!

Thanks for the Tip Ice. MFDE Programme is really user friendly. Looks great too.
Only getting the “Trogan” issue but I’ve read in another thread that it nothing to worry about.
I would love to have a touch control ICP, maybe when I get myself a Touchscreen Monitor. They are quite expensive here in Gib as everything’s imported.
I guess I’ll need to learn the Helios tool for the ICP.
Anyway, I’m finding your tutorials real handy.
Thanks once again Ice. -
Ah, I thought you already had a touchscreen monitor due to your interest in Helios. Do you have a second computer? I think with GPT and Helios, you could put Helios and your MFDE instruments on a second computer screen and use the mouse to “press” buttons on it… not as handy as a touchscreen but at least you’ll get to use Helios instead of just looking at it
However, this is my next project so I myself have yet to explore this option. If you go to the GPT thread though, people have been doing this exact thing so at least we know it’s possible.
-
Yep. Got a second computer although right now I’m only interested in displaying the instruments that mainly deal with NAV such as the ADI or HSI which do not require so much imput.
Also got a “Warthog” Flightstick with “Morphine’s” profile, so in conjunction with the MFDs, I don’t have to rely on the Mouse so much.
I’m happy with this setup for the moment and I guess that Helios was not the best choice for this.
Only after checking out other people’s profiles such as yours, that I’m actually learning about guage extraction etc…
Hopefully in the near future I’ll incorporate a functional ICP, and I guess I’ll need a programme like Helios or GPT for this.
I’ll keep on reading and learning.
Much obliged Ice. -
Hi Ice! I´m having a problem with your profile. I put all the files in the specific folders according your instructions. When I open profile editor, load your profile and try to add falcon interface, there is not falcon option on the list. If I don´t load your profile and try to assemble a profile from the scratch, there is no problem when I access “add interface”. Falcon is there! So, what am I doing wrong? One very interesting thing is that I use an A-10C profile (LOZ) in DCS, and I didn´t have any problem making it work!
-
You do not “add falcon interface” because it is already added.
First, open the Helios Profile Editor and load up the profile, then go to the Profile Explorer
Under the Interfaces drop-down, you will find the interface for Falcon. Double click Falcon
A new “tab” should come up for Falcon and you can load up your .key file
Hope that helps!

Thx very much! !
A few more questions:
1- when I load your key file in Helios profile editor, may I load another key file IN the simulator setup? That´s because I´m using a Saitek profile, and it has its own key configuration……
2 -I have 2 monitors (non touchscreen): the main is 1920 x 1080, and another one 1680x 1050. Helios runs on 1680x 1050 (i resized your profile). The problem is that I set the highest resolution possible on SETUP (1920 x 1080), and when In GAME, the mouse cursor can´t access Helios in the smaller monitor! In DCS I overstretched the resolution to 3600 x 1080, and my cursor can access Helios. However, there is not such option on the resolution list on SETUP (I can´t set any resolution I want!). How did you solve this problem? -
1 - you may have a different .key file in the sim, but then I can’t guarantee anything working properly. Helios still refers to the .key file to know what key commands to send to the sim. If you manipulate the gear lever, for example, and Helios sends the keys “ALT+G” to the sim, the sim will see that ALT+G keystroke and perform the relevant callback command. If ALT+G was mapped to “open canopy” for example, then you can see how things start getting messed up.
2 - I’ve never tried using the mouse to manipulate Helios while in the sim. In fact, I turn off the in-game mouse –- I’m not sure if that turns off the mouse for the secondary monitor as well. Unfortunately, my simming setup is not assembled at the moment so I can’t really test this. I do know that there CAN be two mouse cursors and that they can be de-sync’ed, and that’s why I always had the issue of having to turn off the in-game mouse.
-
Another question: how do I extract gauges to the second monitor, so they can run behind Helios?
. -
MFDE is what I use. You’ll find more info on the very first post on the blog.
-
Ice, I learned how to manage the Extractor, but I can´t bind the gauges to the sim, when in game. Do I have to do some special setting in Falcon Extractor and/or Falcon BMS(the sim) configuration?
-
Replied on your thread.
-
Chaps,
When I throw the “Parking Brake” up (on) the switch in Ice’s Helios profile moves to the “up” position and in game the parking brake is engaged BUT the “Parking Brake” switch in the BMS on screen cockpit does NOT move to the “UP” (on) position?
Any ideas?
Ironman.

Sorted ;0)

So what was the problem and the solution?

Hi Guys,
sorry for writing into this thread …I’m trying to understand how to have the MFD display on the 2nd monitor with Helios.
The only thing I see inside the MFD id a very large HUD …I searched on the net to find a tutorial about the MFD but I didn’t find one.
I found only how to have switches and knob working, but no altimeter or MFD.Thanks in advance for your help.
