Thanks for this. And I have a question. How can I use this in a Korea2012 cam? Whenever I use this on K2012 but some errors here and can’t read Korea2012 file.

Falcas… very good job on MC…
Is it possible one day to see a slider or a value changer for the “create links” feature, i mean somehow to control min/max distance for the links?? -
Create links is just to give you a start. Manual corrections are needed in many places.
So this is basically a one time use feature for a new theatre.Gr Falcas

Ok fair enough… You planning any otpional obj export/import system? Meaning to give the opportunity to the user to choose what objectives he wants to export/import?
Thanks in advance
-
Have been thinking about it. But its not as simple as you might thing.
You can not just export one Obj and import it into a totally different file.
ID and CampId is only a small issue as it can just be adjusted.
But links to other Objs are not so easy.Major question is actually… Do you really need it.

I believe it would be helpful At least to the Campign/theater developers not too simple users like me. It gives options to theater/campaign developers to kepp things from older versions of a theater to a conversion from 4.32 to 34 as well at least a start and not only that. but anyway you are the “boss” you decide Im just thinking out loud
Cheers

Thinking out loud is perfect
I don’t follow your argument?
For a conversion from older versions to newer versions you have nothing to do with exporting/importing Objectives.
And being a theater developer myself I have never had the need to exp/imp one (or a couple) objectives only.
This functions is mainly used to get all the base files the same. So you work on the te_new.tac exclusively and use the exp/imp to update all the savex.cam files (and instant.cam)But this does not mean you can have a valid argument, I just don’t see it at this moment.

ThanksCan’t give you a good answer to this one as it is not so black and white.
The links are needed so the campaign engine can find its way around the theater.
If there is no link between Obj A and B, the battalions will not move that route. That said, you need enough links to make it work.
But the code can not correctly handle massive and massive amount of links.
Try to restrict the amount of links to one Obj. If needed route the links through an Obj close by to “share the load”For example a city with 10-12 links will not work so good. (no you won’t get a CTD)
Having a factory and a bridge in the city which are connected to each other and all 3 Obj supply the links outside of the city will bring down the amount of links for each Obj to about 4-5. In general this will work better.gr Falcas

So, you’re saying they made a code change recently?

Nope, has always been this way

 Guess you don’t follow the forums much!
Read and then look at post #75!
If you don’t believe me, add 12 ground links to any object and report back!!

I have no clue where you are pointing at

I have no clue where you are pointing at
?? I gave you the link to the thread and the Post that explains you WILL get a CTD if you have over 7 ground links on any give objective and you have no clue??
Regardless, I just added enough links to Seoul in Stock KTO theater Save0(Tiger Spirit) to make 12 ground links at Seoul and on exit, BMS CTD!!(I didn’t adjust anything else except adding ground links to Seoul.)
Here’s the file: http://www.mediafire.com/file/1q0nom6mm6pdflu/save0.cam/file
All you have to do is start that Tiger Spirt campaign, let it run for a bit for aircraft to get in the air and exit, you will get a CTD!!

This is a screenshot from an exported MC Objective CSV.
There are only 100 Data Fields in the Campaign files, not only in MC, but the same was true for TacEdit, once that is exceeded by too many ground links, the CTD will occur! Normally that would be a max of 7 ground links, there may be an instance where some objective would be able to have 8, but I haven’t found any, possibly a bridge?
Edit: By the way, you don’t have to run it until aircraft get in the air, just starting the campaign and exiting will produce the Exit CTD.

Ok… You get a CTD, but I don’t… Doesn’t really matter as that was not the core of the post I did.
Yes restrict it to max 7 to avoid a CTD. But even 7 is already a little too much. The code to find the path around the theater is ok, but not great. Having less links (but not too few) will help this part of the code to run better.
How much exactly, well I am not going to tell a number as that would be counter productive.
Just try to avoid large amount of links and the campaign engine can do a better job.Gr Falcas

You get a CTD, but I don’t…
I don’t buy it!!
This was tested with multiple people in the thread I linked to and EVERYONE got the CTD!
At any rate, it does matter, you said you could have 10 or 12 links and there wouldn’t be a CTD…NOT TRUE.
I’m done dickering around with you, in the end you ALWAYS need to be right and can’t prove yourself!:roll:
