Because of lack of knowledge.
This project was doomed before it was started.
We started it and believed that it would initiate the ppl with the knowledge to share it and get us started.
2 persons responded with the will to create such guides. Well it’s some months now till those statements and nothing yet. Probably something is keeping them, I’m sure they don’t do it on purpose.
For now even if this project is resurrected I can’t contribute cause of lack of time… FBB project and some other stuff…
Don’t know about others…

I only needed the tail numbering…
Those two guys just said it should be very easy and a piece of cake!!!
Is that so hard to put it in an easy way of understanding, if it’s a piece of cake???
Please some one, give a hand here. -

Cause u have the model in Falcon.
So u have to select that area.
export?
than create the new one (new numbering) texture
than import it?
than declare that the new textures go where…
and so on and so forth…
than u must align objects etc…those are out of my head as I understand it without never done it.
Now if the above seem easy to u than do it…

Arty mate… you didn’t understand me.
I didn’t said it’s easy.
Buzzz said it (check post #2):
@Buzzz:In fact, the skinning/modeling job is only half of the job.
It’s just a matter of knowing well what you do in lodeditor. How much work is a function of many different places on the model show the serials. If it’s only on the tail, it’s a piece of cake.
The other half can by done by anyone : getting a list of real serials for all the skin sets an aircraft has. If you have an aircraft with, let’s say, 9 skin sets, you’ll need to find 9*4= 36 serials. I guess this will be easy for US jets with huge production, but it’s hard if you have limited number of jets or limited information on serials (USSR, north korea,…)Then, Silverson confirmed it (Check post #4)
@Silverson:I’ve already done that for emf Theater, it was rather easy. I’ll see what future holds for my spare time and I may volunteer to do this for other western jets in Korea.
Got it?
-
I know it’s hard. We don’t know how is the problem.
-
bump

I Was trying to get this For the Balkans Theater but no luck. I have sent a lot of PM’s to guy who claim they have done this but no reply.
I can get this added into the New Balkans Campaign if some one could Post a Complete Tutorial.

so do we know how to do this?
I would be interested in being able to do up a set of 308th block 42 skins, but apparently I cannot edit falcon models in Maya, which is the software I use…
-
Okay boys, bad news from my end unfortunately.
To really be able to do it you need original 3D models with the addition of the surfaces needed for the serialnrs. Extracting the lods will clear all texture mapping, so no go for me. Otherwise i lack the knowledge until if possible a tut will shows us another way… sorry!

Yeah. Telling it’s easy might be misleading. Not everyone can do it. You need some basic lodeditor and 3DS skill to do the job.

I have basic Maya know how… and I can use LE for basics like replacing LODs and the like. So, I guess I need to download 3DS max then?
