TrackIR issues
-
Hey guys, one thing that was causing me a lot of problems last night was TrackIR. I was able to look around fine, except for the left and right panels. I had a really hard time looking down at the left and right panels during the ramp start. I tried sitting closer, further away, hit recenter on TIR, made sure I was zoomed out as far as I could go, etc.
Up and down were fine (straight ahead), and left and right were also fine. But looking right/down or left/down was really difficult. TIR just froze when I did this.
Any idea how I sort this out? Is there a setting I am missing? I am sitting about 3 feet from the TIR, and have 3 monitors (3840 x 1024), if that helps.

Which TrackIR? Are you using the TrackClipPro or a hat and Vector clip? Which version of the software are you using?

That’s normally a TrackIR Camera field-of-view issue. Have you moved your TiR Camera? I find the best position for me; I use TrackClipPro; is for the camera to be slightly to the left side of the screen. This gives it a good view of the IR LED’s when I move my head. Play with the camera position and think about how the reflectors/LEDs will be hidden with your had in certain angles.

Thanks for the help! Running TrackClip (device is 4, running 5.2 sw).

Okay I will try that. Thanks!

As Tiffy suggested above. With my 27" 1440p screen for example I have the TrackIR 20% of the way from the left edge of my screen. If I click on the drop down ‘Display’ box in the top left corner of the TrackIR software and select ‘Camera View’ I get this:
If you’re getting something that looks like the screen below when you move your head through a typical range of movement you would be comfortable with in sim then you’ll need to move your clip, or the TrackIR so that the individual LEDs in the TrackClipPro don’t interfere or obscure each other:
