TE - JA37 Viggen Training
-
Wanted to try the JA37, so I’ve built a TE around it.
Theater: Default 4.33 Korea.
Weather map: Custom.
The Viggens are stationed in Kangneung, so all flying will be done from there.
Viggen missions (marked in red):
15:47h - BARCAP to the DMZ. You will be assisted by a pair of ROKAF F-4Es.
15:50h - TARCAP over the KOTAR area. Meet up with some RAF Tornados and then watch them bomb a DPRK mechanized batallion.
16:01h - Two-ship lo-hi sortie. Buzz a destroyer task force, then head down to the KOTAR to watch what’s going on there.
16:03h - Single-ship lap around the field. Or join either of the earlier or later flights. Or head up to the DMZ. Or down to the KOTAR.
16:05h - Two-ship low level run down valleys and rivers. How low can you go?NOTAMS:
- There are OPFOR units near the KOTAR. Watch for MANPADs and small calibre anti-air fire.
- Might want to keep on your side of the DMZ.
- AEW&C is available.
- A tanker is running up and down the coast. Pay him a visit. Or don’t.
I haven’t tested this TE extensively, so expect weirdness here and there.
-
You may visit the tanker, but waving to the pilots is all you can do: just like the real thing the Viggen has no refueling possibility because it was not needed in the Swedish defence system: no long range missions, but rapid turnarounds (refueling and rearming would take about 10 minutes on the ground and could by done by about 6 conscripts and an officer). Viggens have performed up to 11 sorties a day in high-pressure exercises.
-
That’s why I said “Pay him a visit”, not “Practice AAR”.
