When I upgraded I used this website:

Probably the most thorough tool there is. Just by looking at your current specs I would say a 600W PSU should be sufficient and would have a bit of overhead to play with if you chose to further upgrade in the future. I can recommend the Corsair CX series…great PSU’s at a reasonable price.

Exactly.
Your base computer looks good cns180784. Don’t know what MB your using though. No listing of a PSU either? My suggestion is to go for a 1000w PS. That will give you some overhead room for the future. Also, make sure if you are running a 3.5ghz, that your MB is up to date.

Nice link, but I would take this with a grain of salt. This will tell you how much wattage and amperage loads your system is likely to use. I would go the next highest PSU, AT LEAST, from what that calculator shows. Peak loads on certain systems can exceed those calculated values. 600w with a GTX 960 isn’t going to cut it IMO. Also, there is “overclocking”. Mower has a good solid OC’d rig. When you OC, you need lots of power and very good cooling. Cooling costs power too. If cns gets a 1000w PSU, he will not have to worry about power consumption for his rig for a long time. If you know your rig will go through upgrades over the years, best to get a PSU (Motherboard, ect.) that can handle upgrades for a number of years.

As you can see in my sig I’m using a Corsair CX600 and doing fine. Using various monitoring I’ve never seen it peak above 475. That said, overhead is good to have and if you can afford it definitely get bigger.

Exactly. Things like the PSU can easily last for many many years. Same with a Mobo. A good MB can last beyond 10 years. So can a good set up of RAM. Then it just comes down to GFX/Sound cards and USB based hardware upgrades and cooling. Looking at going liquid cooling for everything (even case fans).

another thumbs up on the 960 gtx from me as well. At first I was a bit disappointed about the fps in BMS not surging to new heights, but it’s a solid card that keeps up very well even in very busy situations, so for about 180-200€, it’s a good deal until the next gen cards come out. I wouldn’t “waste” money on an 980, those are bound for a nosedive with regard to prices once the Pascal chipsets hit the markets I guess.

Not exactly sure what my MB is in terms of specs but i know its called a Gigabyte and when i boot my pc up it comes up with its features with the protection it gives. My PS is 700W, dont know what the wattage of my PS was when it blew a few months ago but i’m sure this one i have is higher. I can tell just by the louder noise it makes. I’v tried searching for the MB in my docs and in the start menu, but cant find anything with its’ exact specs. Does anyone know where i can find this info? i did have the original box for it but cant find it.

Download & run Belarc Advisor (or open the case and look), then go to MB web site & download the manual.
Cheers!
