Reducing the flight path length can greatly improve rendering

Can you tell us if you plan on optimizing the 3D drawing code?
As reported by many, this has reached a level where it becomes a slideshow in BMS campaigns and it it is not giving credits to this awesome tool.We are completely rewriting the 3D renderer for Tacview 2.0. In parallel, we are also looking into ways we can improve the replays of BMS campaigns.

I have been trying to reach out to you guys but to no avail about me loosing my key. I bought the advanced option key and since a few weeks it asks me for a key, which it never did for the last 3 years.

Hello BuzyBee and Tacview
I would like to add Taiwan theater map into Tacview. I did the xml instruction but was getting error message saying that Tacview does not support 4.35 yet. Is there any suggestion how i could add Taiwan map into the Tacview?

Tacview is supporting 4.35 I have added theaters like Panama to tacview in 4.35 following the Tacview instructions with no issues

Thank you Oakdesign for your reply. I tried and it eventually i figured out how to import Taiwan’s map into the background of Tacview. However there’s a new problem. The recorded ACMI does not show the accurate position on the Tacview. I was doing a local flight around the airport but in the Tacview my position is far away from where i did my local flight. What could be the problem behind and any suggested solutions?

BMS is Recording positions relative to für lowerleft Corner of the Theater. You Need to have the correct bounder coordinates in the Tacview BMS Theater XML File in oder to have Tacview to showxorrect positions

Also make sure you have chosen the correct theatre at the bottom of the file-open dialogue box. (Taiwan does not appear for me because I have not installed it)

Thanks for the answer. I know where to enter the correct coordinates in the Tacview BMS Theater XML file. But i wonder how can i learn the correct boundary coordinates of the Taiwan theater map?
-
Thanks for your reply BuzyBee. Yes i do have selected Taiwan at the bottom of the dialogue box. It’s just that i’m experiencing incorrect position on tacview. And i’m trying to figure out where i can find the precise boundary coordinates of Taiwan theater map so that i can input them into the Tacview BMS theater XML file.

Try these:
<lod>2</lod>
<west>114.93</west>
<east>125.05</east>
<south>20.4</south>
<north>29.61</north>
<visible>1</visible>
<timezone>+0</timezone>I will add it to Tacview in the next update.

Hi BusyBee
Thanks for these. It’s very helpful. The position is now precise. Wow. Wonder how you got to these accurate coordinates.
By the way, just another question which isn’t really the problem of Tacview. Taiwan is actually in +8 time zone.
I’ve noticed that the time zone of Taiwan theater in BMS is incorrect.
Any idea where i could reset BMS’s time zone to the correctly +8 and also maybe update the timezone of Tacview to +8 as well? -
Hi,
As in Falcon, for online squadrons a very nice feature would be to have a “adress list” to remember the ip of different players that tipically host the tacview debrief. -

I don’t know how to change the time zone in BMS. I think you’d have to ask their support. If/when they fix it, just change the time zone in the XML file to match - and please let me know, so I can fix it in Tacview natively as well.

Sorry, if this has already be pointed out, but with BMS 4.35 some SAM units are mislabelled in TacView (e.g. SA-9, SA-15. I.e. SA-9 is shown as SA-3)
Or is there already something I can do to fix it on my side?
Thanks. -
Tacview Object properties is compiled into the exe but you can create your own xml File for misspelled object as described on the documentation

Thanks.I thought I had fixed this in the most recent Tacview: https://www.tacview.net/download/latest/en/ . Please make sure you are using the most recent version. If that doesn’t help can you please share your VHS file? EDIT and let me know what theatre and theatre version?

so some bug facts:
4.35.1 Korea KTO
TacView 1.8.6
vhs tape is rather big (campaign), so it got uploaded here
https://ufile.io/gquem9p6Unit in question is destroyed at 11:44:41. There is another SA-9 at 39.16258, 127.49435
The observation I made is that the unit is actually recognized as SA-9 (Name field. But 9K31 instead of SA-9 Gaskin). But only when selecting “Edit object…” in the context menu. If I just select it with CTRL LMB, then it says SA-3 Goa (LN) on the top left and the label in 3D is SA-3.
I kinda have the impression, that the same ID is shared between the SA-3 launcher and the SA-9…Thanks for looking into it.
Cheers
