Weepops Helios profile

Interesting. So you say that you start HeliosProfileEditor first then load the profile… where? Into the appropriate User/Docs/Helios/Profiles folder, or what?
-
Yes i start HeliosProfileEditor first and then load the file from where it is saved. (could be downloads or the User/Docs/Helios/Profiles folder)
But check that the images in the User/Docs/Helios/Images/Weepop-Ice folder and not in User/Docs/Helios/Images**/Weepop-Ice/Weepop-Ice**

Hi Weepops,
I am using your profil for few weeks now, and I have some questions / remarks about it (sorry for the number…) :
- Is it possible to have a profil in AZERTY, because for the moment I have to switch in QWERTY before using your profile. Do you have a solution ?
- I have a problem with the Search buttons for the RWR, nothing happens when I click on it, do you have this problem ?
- The 5° right or left click for HDG and CRS (HSI) doesn’t work, it is only 1°, do you know why ?
- unfortunatly I did not succeed to have the checklist working (I can’t show page 2, 3 ,etc.). I tried with Ice profile, but nothing more… Maybe if you have another solution to give to me, it would be great
- do you know if it is possible to have a direct link with Falcon BMS for some buttons, for example Master Arm, Autopilot, Laser Arm, etc. It works for some buttons (like gears), so I wanted to know if it is possible for others or not ?
- I wanted to creat a new panel for the comms, like for exemple the right or left panel, which shows only shorcuts for buttons AZERTY (comms) and 1 to 9 (choices in comms). Something simple I think (I don’t know if you see what I mean), but I really don’t master Helios for the moment, maybe you could help me…
- I have tried the FA/18 and i wonder if there is somewhere a profile for this plane, for the moment I only found for DCS A10 and Blackshark
Thanks for your answers !

For Azerty you have to reconfigure all the keys that are not the same on both keyboards.
Even some callbacks wont work.Got it working but i was spending hours on it.

Hello Weepop,
Thanks for the improvements to Ice’s profile. It definitely rocks!!
I noticed something though, I have been training using the BMS training manual to do ILS landings etc. So I was in flight and was doing the one with Konsan approach. So press airports on Helios screen, hit Kunsan and started going by the data on the chart from your profile, and I noticed that the GPS location was different from the training manual, and then I noticed that the dates were different. Your profile says 18 Nov 09 and the manual says 6 Jan 14.
It all started because I couldn’t find the ILS frequency on your chart.
Perhaps you want to take a look at it? let me know what you think in terms of updating.
I’m going to update mine with the latest maps.

Never mind Weepop, I also realize that although your charts maybe older, not much has changed. The one I was looking for was there in your folder of charts. Is just that it is not the one that comes up when you press Kunsan approach. I will fix on mine to my preference.
To recap, your charts are fine.
Pika outRE-Re-edit,
Actually, what I was looking for was the ILS chart, so when I press the ILS 36 button nothing happens, but you do have that chart in the folder though. -
Thanks pikachu
I don’t know how I missed that.
I have corrected my charts and uploaded a new folder labelled BMS_Kunsan 7Z.If you have not done so yet just replace the existing folder in your Helios image files with this.
I notice you said you were going to update yours to the latest but other users may not have the knowledge to be able to do this .weepop out

You are right Weepop, and it is not very easy neither.
I have spent many hours reverse-engineering your profile. And I do it because I enjoy it. I see it as part of the BMS experience. Is like having a muscle car and tweaking it to my liking.
Anyhow, thanks for your upload. I’ll keep you posted if I see any issues so you can keep improving the profile.

Ice and weepop….
Enjoy your profile. Got mine working and changed a bunch of things to suit my preference…namely that since I am a f16 maintainer I wanted the left and right console panels to be aligned how they are in the jet…so took some time and changed the panel layout and the switches. Hats off to you guys a great profile. Thanks for your hard work. I can finally enjoy a full pit experience at a fraction of the cost.
-
Thanks eclipsejpw! Any chance of showing us what you ended up with? While I wanted the L and R panels to be as they are, the horizontal orientation of the monitor obviously did not make this ideal.
-
Certainly. I am away from home for a few days but when I return I will def show you guys what I came up with

Ice & Weepop,
Love the profiles… I am trying to get sound feedback from the ICP & switches etc…
No joy. Did a lot of reading. Still No joy.
Any ideas what I should check or can do?
Thanks for any help.
(EDIT)
AHHHH! I looked & just needed to assign the new sound numbers to the callbacks in Weepops .key file - All switches and knobs with sound now!
(I copied Ace’s sound numbers from his updated .key file - “BMS - FPM by -Ice.key”)
Weepop, I haven’t tweaked anything else yet, just let me know if you would like me to send you the updated “weepop BMS4.key” file.
Also, for members still looking for the 5 degree HSI fix, just add
set g_nKnobAccelerationDelta 0
to your falcon bms.cfg file and you’ll be all set.
(thought I would save someone else some reading if they are still looking for that one…)Cheers!

I don’t believe you can get any noises out of the profiles, (correct me if I’m wrong Ice). What I did keep hearing was the window system sounds when I would press any of the switches. I suppose you can assign a click in the Windows system noises but then you would only have one sound for every switch.
-
Ajax, sound was working for my profile in 4.32…. MAYBE in 4.33 as well. I’ll have to check that.
Basically, all sounds were off different sound files and 4.33 standardized the format somewhat so I had to re-do my .key file for it.
EDIT: Yeah, checking my latest .key file, I have standardized my 4.33 .key file to conform to the new numbers.

Ice & Weepop,
Weepop, I haven’t tweaked anything else yet, just let me know if you would like me to send you the updated “weepop BMS4.key” file.
Cheers!
Yes Please AJAX then I might know what you are talking about!!!

It’s the 3-digit (or 4-digit on some old ones) numbers after the callback that tells the sim which sound file to play once the switch/button is manipulated.
AFGearToggle 119 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 “GEAR: LG Handle - Toggle”
Check out p.38-39 of the BMS Key File Manual.pdf.
-
Yes Ice, thanks for checking.
Your latest .key file is what I copied the sound file numbers from.
It works great now!
Thanks for all your work!
-
Ok, weepop. I updated all the sound numbers in it to those used by Ice’s last .key file.
Sound feedback for each switch and knob is great now!
Let me know how to send it to you… I’m a noob to the forum, but an IT professional for 30+ years.
-
Ajax sent PM
Ice thank you for that info, all news to me.
-
Sorry Ajax!
Talking out of turn here :uham:
You meant in flight sounds! That’s why I refer back to the Helios Masters Ice and Weepop
