Why does TARGET stop workiing?
-
I have been using Warthog with since January 2016 without a problem. Now I got this problem.
And the problem still exists even after uninstalling and reinstalling TARGET software and uninstalling and reinstalling Falcon 4.33.My USB connections are on the back of the computer.
With Windows 10, I checked “Devices and Printers”/”Game Controller Settings” and Joystick is first, Throttle is second.
In TARGET, I checked the “Device Analyzer” and all the buttons, switches, axes of the Joystick and Throttle are working.
In TARGET, I checked the “Event Tester” and all the buttons and switches are working with my TARGET profile.
In Falcon 4.33 “Setup”/”Controller” screen, the buttons, switches, and Joystick and Throttle axes are all working. Now, when I start the game, buttons, switches, and the Joystick and Throttle axes are working, but then they stop working. I never had this problem in
January and most of February. Windows didn’t change, Falcon 4.33 didn’t change, the TARGET profile didn’t change.TARGET just seems to give up. Did anyone else experience this and find out why?

Had that problem and Thrustmaster said make sure the controllers are either plugged into a power hub or directly into the computer the computer is best. The other suggestion was to make sure your power settings in windows are balanced and your display time and sleep time are at least 30 minutes or not at all (never). I’ve had the problem rarely since, usually with MP mode so I reset the hog before entering MP (ALT-TAB select Thrustmaster, STOP, re-enter Target)

That sounds like it’s windows 10 power management. The settings can get reset with any windows update. In your power plan of choice, disable selective USB suspend. You may also want to check the device manager and make sure you’re not letting windows disable the USB root hubs to save power.

I have everything you said. My power was balanced. My Warthog is plugged directly into the back of the computer. My display and sleep time was set to Never. Still got the problem.

I used regedit to change “EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled” from 1 to 0. That did not solve the problem.
Here’s what Thrustmaster told me today:
What you can do is after you have noticed that the controls are not responding, open the TARGET go to Device Analyzer and see if they still work.
If proved that they work, then it’s an issue with the game. If the buttons don’t work in TARGET then we will try to simulate this error and provide you with a viable solution.I’m going to report back to Thrustmaster that I tried their suggestion and found that after the controls stopped responding, I opened TARGET and went to the Device Analyzer and found that the controls did not work. I’m waiting for the Thrustmaster reply.

I sent Thrustmaster my jc1.key and jc1.tmc. By the way, the files are available at the thread “jc1 Profile”. Here’s the reply I got from Thrustmaster, today March 4, 2016:
Thank you for the files.
Indeed when pressing the buttons the throttles stops working.
We will have to go into details and investigate this.
As soon as we have a reply, we will get back to you. When I get a reply from Thrustmaster, I’ll keep everyone posted.

Got a reply from Thrustmaster on April 5, 2016. Not much help cuz I don’t see anything wrong. Maybe someone else can see something. Here’s what Thrustmaster said:
Thrustmaster April 5, 2016
It appears that there is something wrong with the coding.
We are still investigating, until then, please use a bypass for the command.
For any other questions, we rest at your disposal. Here’s the rest of my correspondence with Thrustmaster.

Attached is my Falcon 4.33 keyfile named “jc1.key” and my TARGET tmc file named “jc1.tmc”. Here’s how the problem shows itself. When I start the game, the joystick and throttle axes both work. But if I throw the throttle “Autopilot Select Switch” from the “APAH” position to either the “APPAT” or “APALT” position, that’s when the throttle axis and joystick axis stop working.Thrustmaster March 4, 2016
