SEAD strike

Definitely possible. The RWR picks up lots of things, it doesnt care what the things are targeting - just where they are pointed.
That explains it then must have been fired at my wingman which is why he had no HARMs when it came to shooting SAMs (emergency jettisoned). One thing i noticed in the debrief was it listed only 2 a/c for the strike element and i know the flight lead of it was shot down as there was a mayday call (airman down) and shortly after the flight lead of the strike disappeared from my HSD. I didnt check or remember when reading the brief if the strike element was a 2 or 4 ship but if it was just a 2 ship then thats odd as i’m sure they’re usually always 4 ship flights. It had the strike flight lead in his status as RS in the debrief…what is this? rescued? after he was shot down?

RS is rescued. HARMs shouldnt get jettisoned, I thought.

I thought with emergency jettison all air to ground munitions and any external tanks are dropped?
-
I had thought missiles were retained. Perhaps it is only air to air missiles that are retained.

Well completed my next sortie, SEAD escort for strike on a factory of some sort. Destroyed an SA-8 and SA-15, strike element totally destroyed target so a complete success, but a tad boring. The briefing warned of SA-10s but none showed up and there were no enemy fighters till the end when i RTB’d, but felt i had to land at alternate as i was low on fuel, which turned out to be, lets say interesting. An armoured battalion was positioned right on the runway threshold at Wonsan! not only that but ATC cleared both myself and wingman to land at the same time, he landed just ahead of me. Managed to land clear of the tanks/IFV’s that were on the runway but just think if i had to do an IFR approach lol.
After taking out those SAMs there were AAA that appeared and tried to find them with FCR and TGP but couldnt. I had four Rockeyes although not the best for AAA, could still do the job i guess. I had originally loaded them as i was going to hit an enemy armoured battalion on my return home but due to fuel decided not to.

so you had harms and MK-20? Have you tried JSOW?

Yea but took HARMs to take out the SAMs, but if JSOWs are available i’ll use them for SEAD on AAA. I took the Mk-20’s to take out some BMP’s and T-72’s but i ran too low on fuel.

what is the best bursting altitude on those rockeyes?
-
I´d say 500ft to 1000ft, depending on how far your targets are spread.

I dropped CCIP 6 rockeyes on a tight moving column (5th tank BN) set at 900ft perfectly spread over the entire column and only got 5 kills
