Hi weepop,
did you read the manual?
Check page 11 in that file: “…\Falcon BMS 4.33\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals\BMS-Manual.pdf” -
Falcon MFD Extractor

Thanks Razor and Mapi but both your links are to same official site and when I download it has the Trojan Horse !!!

 give an apple to the horse and it will be OK.
Probably it’s a false alarm. Thousands of us use it without problems.Well I give it an apple from time to time.

Don’t know if it’s a false alarm, but AVG also goes crazy on the Common.InputSupport.dll file.
So I first installed version 0-6-1-0, and copied the dll.
Then i uninstalled this version and installed version 0-6-1-1, had AVG remove the “infected” dll and copied the dll from version 0-6-1-0 to the version 0-6-1-1 install.
No more AVG warnings and MFDE still works!
Both dll seem the same although the dll from version 0-6-1-1 has no version number and the file from version 0-6-1-0 does.
Works for me…… -
Just learned about Gurro’s mfd tools. Some say that it’s way faster than LmfdE. Only info is in french. Any input?

Followed your instructions as far as trying to copy the dll from 0-1-6-0 into 0-1-6-1 and it refuses saying I need permission, can you help?

Works for me……That’s why I got rid of AVG. They started throwing too many false positives.

False positive. Just add an exclusion to your AV.

So which anti-virus did you switch to? I’m using AVG atm; what pisses me off is that it proposes installation of the trial (and later payware) version all too often…

Make sure you are logged in as administrator and that MFDE is not running. I didn’t run into that kind of problems.
I also think it’s a false positive, it is weird though that although both files look the same and work the same (no difference in MFDE noticed), the dll in the latest version causes this kind of problems.
BTW, I’m using a licensed and payed version of AVG Internet Security and it hardly ever gives me (false) malware notifications……

I used AVG for years , then it was doing that over and over for months so I got tired of it and dumped it. No more false positives.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. Been using it for several years now.

Thank you Terminator,
I finally managed to load new dll and everything now OK. -

Good luck with that.
I’ve been without anti-virus for years in the past. Comparing it having MSE it’s the same. I had MSE in the past and now at work, viruses pass and go. -

I use Gurra’s Pit Tools (GPT) for MFD’s and MFDE for some other gages. Search this forum to find English install instructions. They also come with the program files. GPT is a little complicated to set up, but transmits the MFD video super fast and consumes minimal resources.

I do periodic install/check/uninstall with other anti virus and malware programs to check if MSE is working and never get any viruses show up in three years. No issues here.

Same here, I’ve never used any anti virus software in the 20 years or so using windows platforms basically only as a gaming / sim launcher. The recent “Locky & friends” encrypting virus / trojan disaster has clearly shown that most AV vendors really only have their own bank accounts in mind instead of their customer’s security as they’ve been unable to keep the sig dbs up to date to play catch-up with self-modifying, mutating code.
One of our customers had six Locky incidents in a single month. Do they use AV? Sure! Did it help? No. Do they educate their users and allow them use the right tools for the job? Apparently not.
Add to that the inconvenience of scans being scheduled at the worst possible moment, exessive use of system resources (i/o, cpu) and plain refusal to being uninstalled and wiped from a system cleanly and it’s easy to see why one shouldn’t touch AV software with anything less than a 10 foot pole.
Click carefully, use a proper browser with noscript, flashblock and ublock origin and you should be good to go. If you’re really paranoid boot some custom linux distro off of a stick from time to time and run a check from there.
All the best, Uwe
