4.33 UI vs 4.33 FPS
-
Hy Guys, i found out something that may be helpful to some of you in the FPS quest.
I had a look into the “falcon bms.cfg” and i saw a line like this:
set g_bDoubleRTTResolution and the default value is set to 1 … after reading what it does, i changed it to 0 and instantly in BMS 3D world i had way better FPS.
Because what always bugged me was that when i was in the cockpit, my FPS were very bad and once i go in outside view it is good.
So set the value to 0 and you should experience a smoother ride in the 3D world.
And not having a double resolution for the MFD’s etc is not a sim killer, i actually see no difference .

To me it seems that there needs to be tweeking done with the config file as “default” values seem to be set up dependent of a specific computer rig configuration. Perhaps an addendum to the manual would be in order to show what these cfg. lines do and how to adjust them to your rigs specs. Arty’s “hot list” also would be a good place to update this IMO.

Like the one in the back of the BMS Manual perhaps?
Chapter 14.2 LIST AND EXPLANATION OF THE CONFIG OPTIONS (p235- of latest BMS Manual available for download).
There are so many possibilities with software and hardware the only way to know what works best for you is to try it.

Darkman is right, i started with the BMS manual recommendations and then went on what works best for me. Make it easy for yourself, go with BMS manual and then do your personal twitching.

Since I have been getting 60+ FPS since 4.33, I have no need to change any of the cfg. files. Have not had a lot of time with 4.331 yet. I will look into the manual referenced to the cfg. lines when I get some time. Thanks for the heads up Darkman.

Was it that bad to state the obvious ? @Red Dog and Darkman ? …if so i apologize.

Nah, Spook

This is what triggered my Lol, not your post
The above is so typical.
Recommending to add something in the manual, while it wasn’t even checked and sure enough, it’s there already ….At least when we reference the manual in a RTFM, we check first
the same courtesy should be done when one actually suggest we should add somethingBecause I see a lot of concern about respecting users because they might not have time to check the manuals before asking questions. Or because the task is too daunting or the manuals too impressive.
But I don’t see the same kind of courtesy for those who spent time on their freetime to write the manuals to help others in the first place however daunting the task was.So typical of the community voice.
Take, take, take. ask more, don’t use, ask more, complain, don’t use, ask more, take take take.Luckily I am grown enough to see that it’s a minority that is vocal about this. The majority is silent and enjoy BMS
And I know our time is well spent for them -
i understand the frustration, anyhow, the work done on those manuals is awesome, thank you for the work done

And I know our time is well spent for themThen perhaps you could have mentioned this back at the beginning of this post, or at least mentioned this when the discussion turned to editing the cfg. You didn’t. Was all that discussion simply a mute point to you? If people do not read the manual and ask questions here about that, I understand that they need to read the manual. But this discussion was about FPS between bms builds. Coming across someone who edited the cfg. lines to get better performance should have stated this was in the manual, or you should have. Instead it became amusing for you. I don’t find that amusing.
Edit: Also, I have very little free time these days. What Little time I have is already spent. Haven’t even loaded 4.331 yet, let alone read the entire manuals from 4.33 Since you have more time than I do, I can see why this is funny to you.
