Ultimate Dogfight
-
Up until today, all I had done with the Dogfight mode in BMS is setup little skirmishes between 2-4 F-16’s and 2-4 other aircraft. Today, however, I decided to try something new, and created a dogfight with the following:
Team 1:
8 F-16C
4 F-15C
8 F/A-18ETeam 2:
4 MiG-19
12 MiG-21
4 MiG-23
4 MiG-29
4 Su-27
4 Su-30This was a Match Play, meaning nothing respawned, and losses were 5 for us, and 28 for them. It was daytime in the Korean theater, with ECM checked, and two Rear-Aspect IR missiles per craft. No unlimited guns, and with all AI set to Ace. Needless to say, it was good fun, and I emerged with 11 kills, 10 with the gun (which still had a few rounds left at the end).
This, without a doubt, is the most fun I’ve had in BMS, and I was wondering what kind of big dogfights other people created. Do my fellow BMS pilots like this kind of thing? Or is the campaign (which I also really enjoy) more appealing to most around here.

Interesting.
When I load up just for some doggy style fun, I usually just have myself against 2 to 4 adversaries. Rear aspect heaters and guns only. Lots of fun. Sometimes they get me. Usually when I make a mistake (that’s when the beer does most of the flying :wfish:). But a VP verses VP engagements are much harder. The AI is easy enough to figure out. VP’s are unpredictable. That is what makes doggy fights more challenging. So, your question of how you fight against the AI is pretty straight forward.
The Camps are much more fun and immersive. The AI maybe predictable, but it is still quite challenging the fly (depending on the theater as well). Just my 2 cents. Don’t spend it all in one place……

Yeah, these dogfights are really fun. Just for kicks I set one up that was even bigger, with well over 100 aircraft (same conditions). I’m going to push my computer, and see if I can put hundreds of planes on each side, and still maintain 60 FPS. That would be super cool. These big fights sure bring out the Star Wars feel.
