[AAR with AI] Tanker drops speed
-
Hi,
I build a TE with 2 AI flights (2 x F-111, 4 x F-4), and my flight with 4 x F-16. Me flying at #2.
The F-111’s were ready, also the F-4’s…, tanker flew with ~300 knts. But as soon #1 takes position tanker raised from ~300 knts up to ~350 knts. But as soon #1 was ready and I took position tanker drops its speed down to ~300 knts. This was the second time this behaviour occurs with the same TE…

Edit the mission and lock tanker speed to 300.
Probably your stpt’s require the 350 to met the conditions u set.
Logically the tanker when it initiates the procedure drops to 300, when not jumps back to higher speed to make it on time.Sent from TapaTalk

Thanks, I will give it a try…

Hi,
I’ve changed the flight plan, but no changes.
The tanker served the F-111’s and F-4’s with ~ 300 knts.
As soon my flight (me as #2) is up tanker raises its speed up to 350, 360 knts and as soon I am at the boom and after maybe 30 sec. tanker decreases its speed down to ~ 300 knts.Any other ideas?

Do you have the correct role for the tanker on the specific waypoints?
I don’t recall it but looking at the training AAR mission might help. -
Do you have the correct role for the tanker on the specific waypoints?
I don’t recall it but looking at the training AAR mission might help.Tanker serves F-111’S, F-4’s, then AI-lead of my flight, only as soon me is getting at the boom, ~ 30 sec. later and at once, tanker drops speed.
Please see, in posting #1 and #4, that my whole flight “is hanging in the air”… In posting #4 you can see, that my whole flight is reacting with speed breaks wide open.
Yes, the tanker has the correct role, otherwise it wouldn’t had served #1 of my flight (where #1 is AI as lead), isn’t it?I noticed that behaviour also in other TE’s, but not in that heavy way that I’m only able to refuel in the air, if the tanker already had its “hiccup”.
I’ve uploaded the TE:
You can find it here
The TE starts relative near the tanker (~40 nm)…and if someone is willing to fly and test, please select #2 as human pilot for the 4-ship training flight (it must be the penultimate mission in the list, it is an ingress flight).Regards

I´ve changed the TE a little:
First the F-111s (2 ship), than my flight (4 ship, me at #2), than the F-4s (4 ship), but always the tanker drops immediately its speed down to ~300 knts, ~ 30 sec. after I will get at the boom and all other a/c´s are “hanging in the air”.
Isn´t there any help? -

Could be the tanker pilot knows you’re still learning and decides to throw you a curve ball.

OK, I think I got it!
I´ve now had several tryouts:
With F-111´s, as that flight which refuels before my flight, and with F-4´s, but always flies the tanker firstly with ~ 350 knts and than it immediately drops speed down to ~ 300 knts as soon I will get at the boom.It seems that the flight(s) before the own must be F-16´s, that the tanker flies with normal speed (~ 300 knts).
And any following flight can be different…
E.g. for a TE in order of refueling:
F-16 4-ship
F-16 4-ship (own flight with AI as lead and me (in my case) at pos #2) // tanker flies around ~ 300 knts
F-4 4-ship[1] Maybe it is possible to have a TE like that (in order of refueling) (e.g.):
F-111
F-16
F-16 (own flight)
F-4
I will check this out also.–-------------------------------------EDIT:---------------------------------------------
[1] Yes, this is working too!But not this:
F-16
F-111
F-16 (own flight)
F-4
–----------------------------------------------------------------------------The speed of the waypoint of the flight plan where to refuel has no effect…

Maybe F-111 have a setting on their FM for AAR speed? Me thinking outloud.

No sir…I’ve also tried A-10’s.
This is not working properly:
F-16
A-10
F-16 (my flight)
F-4This is working properly:
A-10
F-16
F-16 (my flight)
F-4You can also notice that the tanker refuels at ~ 280 knts for the A-10’s, and raises its speed up to ~ 300 knts as soon as the first F-16’s get to the boom.
The next thing is, I do not know how it is called exactly, a parallel landing with AI-lead.
That thing, when tower calls you with “Next wait your turn!”It is really good flying as wingman with AI lead, I can tell you. As soon as you know how it is (the AI lead) working, then it makes a lot of fun!
For those who are interested in such a properly working TE with AI lead and AAR, I think I can upload it, maybe tomorrow and with some explanations.
So far so good and til then!
