8th VFW One Year Anniversary video
-
Probably 8 years as the 20th and we were the 77th for a couple of years before that.
It’s been quite the roller coaster ride with many highs and lows but, we’ve managed to have a lot of fun. That’s awesome. Hope we can say the same 7 years from now

Thank you all for the well wishes, I love this sim and community, it has been a real joy to grow, learn as a person and a unit. We may have started late, but here is to another 10 years of Falcon!

Thanks for the kind words! PM me sometime and we can talk about a joint operation if you’re interested.
Sure, will do
Greetings

What a time to get back into the sim! This video has me super hyped. Cougar repair is currently WIP, but can’t wait to get back into this. I haven’t properly flown F4 in at least 6 years or more; I think I only flew BMS 4.3x for a handful of hours due to my Cougar being so old and worn…
I don’t think I’ve ever seen F4 looking as graphically good as in this video, and I dare say it’s not even edited. What graphics addons do you have? I suspect there’s a little bit of sweetFx maybe?
BTW, what is the non censored version?

Glad you like the video and thanks for the kind words. Really means a lot to see people enjoying it.
There is only one clip in the entire video that has any post-production color edits (sunset shot at Kunsan at the end of the first song…color gradients applied to get a more pinkish-orange sunset for the silhouette effect on the buildings). Otherwise all of the clips are untouched and look just like they did in the sim. And no, I don’t use sweetFX at all
The uncensored version just has some audio from a video that caused a big commotion on the forums a while back and could be offensive to some. You can watch it on the 8th VFW homepage if you would like.

No worries
Damn, I thought it might at least be a nip slip or something

Description:
The 8th VFW caters to advanced virtual Viper drivers with what we believe to be the single most realistic training program in the community. The 8th VFW B-Course (IQT) is patterned after the real world B-Course syllabus and is both challenging and rewarding. It consists of 16-20 sorties covering aircraft handling, tactical formation, fighter fundamentals, ACM, basic surface attack and tactics, low altitude step down, and a B-Course graduation sortie that will test your knowledge, brevity, and tactics. Students can expect to put in approximately 20 hours of ground study and 40 hours of flight time to complete the course to obtain “Basic Mission Capable” status and participate in weekly wing sorties. We also offer a follow-on A-Course (MQT), which is also patterned after the real world A-Course, to obtain “Combat Mission Ready” status. Continuation training is ongoing upon completion of the A-Course to maintain currency and learn specialized tactics. We also offer an in-house developed ARMS (Aviation Resource Management System) based on the real software used by the USAF and many other air forces around the world. The 8th VFW ARMS tracks flight time, real world currency items, ranks, ribbons and awards, general stats, and includes a verbose logbook for each pilot. The 8th VFW ARMS also includes hundreds (literally!) of other functions for flight planning and flight filing. Combined with a second-to-none custom wing install we believe that we offer the single most realistic Fighter Wing experience for any advanced pilots willing to put in the time and effort to hone their skills and become one of the most lethal BMS Viper drivers in the community!Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season and getting ready for the new year!
After reconfiguring our training program to better streamline the process and sorting out who will be our IP’s, the 8 VFW is opening the recruiting to the BMS Community. Go visit our website’s recruiting page for more information.
2016 has been a great year of growth and learning for our VFW. 2017 is set to become an even more exciting year at the 8th with weekly flights, advanced training and joint operations with squadrons like VFA-141, why not come fly with us and get in on the action!
Hope to see you in the air soon!
