Could you elaborate, give us more details? What are you flying, what’s the mission, can you see the tanker? on the FCR?, can you target other things? etc…

You’re supposed to fuel with the tanker, not target it 🙂

The mission is TR433_05_AAr flying the F16Dm _40 - Although not visual to the tanker, I can see it on the HSD as yellow TKR. In FRC AA master-mode it appears, but when I place the curser over it and TMS up it does not lock, although it will on the AWCS aircraft in the area. I try a few more times and get back with any other info I can. thx newbie.

Getting back. Part of the prob, I think is that I’m getting out of the snowplow mode, is there a quick reference to make sure this is not happening or does AA mastermode always defaults to this rather then god view.?

You’ll want to target the tanker on the FCR, not the HSD. The marker on the HSD is just for reference. Look for something flying around that location on your FCR. You can also call AWACS to request location of the tanker or use TACAN to find it. Once you’re pointed in the right direction you can lock it up using the FCR in RWS or TWS mode. This is useful for the rejoin, but make sure your Master Arm is in Sim. It’s considered good manners to turn off your radar when you get close, though, to allow the boom operator to have kids with only 2 eyes.
“Snowplow” refers to an air-to-ground radar mode where instead of being centered on a point of interest, the air-to-ground radar is just looking straight ahead.

The yellow TKR text is just that, text. It’s like a “label” for the box to denote the area where a tanker is expected to operate.

You “lock on” to a target via the FCR, so if the tanker is not showing up on your FCR, then you can’t lock it. Try fiddling with the range/elevation of your radar.

                  Unless it’s opfor 🙂

Do BMS tankers model in the campaign? That is to say, do they have limited offload (do they stop passing gas when they run out?), and does soaking up tankergas soak the fuel supply out of the campaign engine’s fuel-o-graph?

Well I’ve had success at locking up the tanker. It appears that my assumption the yellow tkr symbol being the ident was false. I changed to wing man and looked for two air craft together. I then assumed it was the lead and tanker which proved to be successful. Further work with the radar functions are in order. thx for the help. Newbie 1. Good place to practice formation flying too. 🙂

Well I tried to pull up behind a KC135 with a KC10 and hook up to drink down the fuel,
but i couldn’t get it to connect.

                      Maybe it’s not refuelable?
Maybe I just couldn’t figure out where the pre-contact position was…
