Trim hat on TM Stick cannot be assigned
-
Hi Guys
I am struggling to map the trim hat switch on my Thrustmaster Warthog flight stick to trim the F16 just like in real life.
When I try and assign this key in the control settings it does not respond, also in the game it functions as a POV to look around.
Do I have to use TARGET to fix this issue? did anybody else have this problem?
Thanks in advance!

As you’ve not actually told us what you’ve done it’s a little hard to guess what you’re doing wrong.
You could either try one of the profiles already created and shared in this sub-forum, or have a read of the BMS Key File Manual in your \Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Key Files & Input folder to better understand how to create and edit keyfiles in BMS. Section 10.2 HOW TO CHANGE THE DX POV FUNCTIONS (TRIM VS. VIEW & OTHER FUNCTIONS) is I think what you’re trying to do.

Thanks, I have looked at the documents but it is all very confusing.
I have a Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle and a Warthog Flight Stick
I am tying to combine them using target software and the script fails when I run it, I put the key file into the designated bms folder and the tmc file into the designated target script folder. -
Trim works fine on the Warthog using DX. Make sure you use the correct trim command(s). IIRC, some trim commands are intended for the trim knobs on the panel and others are meant for use on the HOTAS.
These are the commands you should be using:
AFElevatorTrimUp
AFAileronTrimRight
AFElevatorTrimDown
AFAileronTrimLeft -
This is my .key file section for trim using the WH Joystick (not being altered by TARGET)
AFElevatorTrimUp 0 -1 -3 0 0x0 -1
AFAileronTrimRight 0 -1 -3 2 0x0 -1
AFElevatorTrimDown 0 -1 -3 4 0x0 -1
AFAileronTrimLeft 0 -1 -3 6 0x0 -1In setup within BMS if I press the hat switch up I see:
INPUT POV 1: Up
TRIM Up (your callback description text might be different)If the second line of callback description is blank then nothing is bound to that input. To bind I would find the “TRIM Up” in the table and click on the “No Key Assigned” text once to highlight it blue. Then I would press the POV up direction on the joystick and it would bind. The left column would continue to show “No Key Assigned” unless I bound a keyboard key.

Don’t use TARGET
Just fire up BMS
GO into controls GUI
make sure the warthog stick is selected as the primary device
Select the BMS_Full Mapping file, hit apply
Test the trim hat POV to see of trim commands work.
If not, manually assign them in the BMS CONTROLLER mapping table GUIpretty much what Frederf said

Make sure you have the stick selected. That happened to me. I tried the same but I had the throttle selected. I hope that works.
