@drtbkj Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Major Grant is in there. I tried to fly it and couldn’t fire any missiles since I couldn’t think in Russian

RE: Enjoyed reading this F-16 related book
@Atze-0 Your assessment of Vipers in the Storm vs Viper Pilot is spot on. Just finished reading both and you’re correct in that Keith Rosenkranz and Dan Hampton are very different people. They appear to be the Iceman and Maverick of the Air Force, accurate and methodical vs chaotic and egotistical. Both guys you definitely want on your side but you can only take so much of one whereas the other you can’t get enough of (which is which varies from person to person).
This thread has been great since I hadn’t read any good books in a while and I wasn’t able to put down either of these. Just got started on Hogs in the Sand so I’m sure my employer is going to appreciate my inattentiveness until I can finish it as well.

RE: Losing MFD cursor control
Following since I’ve found myself with no cursor control on several occasions and wondered the same. If you can consistently recreate the issue, hopefully some of the awesome experienced folks around here can point us in the right direction.

RE: Nordic Theater 4.37
@Atze-0 Thanks for that explanation. Makes things a lot clearer knowing where to go to find those details. I’m sure it’s mentioned in some documentation or posts somewhere but your concise directions clarify something I’ve always wondered about.

@erebur There’s a whole exchange rate right so I’d imagine it varies depending on the strength of the shekel.

RE: Default Loadout?
@CaptCanada There are so many variables that go into mission planning that the ATO just gives a generic loadout based on mission type. HARMs are not a bad loadout for day 1 of a campaign but they’re most effective when combined with a second plane carrying CBUs. That was a common loadout in Desert Storm when you’d have a two ship flight, one plane lobs HARMS in and the second flies in with the CBUs to destroy as much as possible while the radars are off. Without the SEAD work you’d be shredded before coming anywhere close enough for the CBUs. BUT the AI isn’t necessarily smart enough to execute that sort of cooperative attack so it only reasonably works with two human pilots.
As mentioned in another comment, it’s quite common to save your own loadouts for each type of mission so you can quickly change to what best works for your situation. I even go so far as to save loadouts for other planes so that, for example, when I frag an F-18 HAVCAP it’s easy to change the default loadout and maximize the number of AIM-120s for the flight.

RE: Multiplayer campaign
Yeah this is a RTFM question since there’s no simple answer. BMS-User-Manual version 4.37.3 section 6 pg. 70-79.
It’s not that hard once you do it a few times but working out the kinks requires reading the manual.

Aircraft not removed from inventory after being shot down
Not sure if this would be theater specific or just a general bug but it seems that the Kuznetsov has an endless supply of SU-33s that it can launch very quickly.
In the Balkans Deny Flight II campaign, after my ground forces captured Dubrovnik I moved my F-16 squadron and a patriot battery there. Then the Kuznetsov showed up and started swarming SU-33s like a hornets nest so I threw up a bunch of BARCAPs in the area. We took some losses but eventually I looked at the squadron stats from the Kuz and it says they should have 0 aircraft, but alas more and more flights keep coming out of her. Looked at the flights fragged from her in Mission Commander and there appear to be 37 flights from a squadron with 0 planes. Am I missing something or could I have screwed something up moving my squadron around in mission commander?

AI wingmen
@Mav-jp said in Regarding AI wingmen:
not , that would be a bad bug, need a repro case please
Know this is an older thread but I had this exact thing happen last night flying in the Balkans Deny Flight campaign. Had an AI wingman with a load of GBU-12s for extra firepower. Got up, successfully tanked, got four good shacks out of him then sent him RTB while I flew around a while longer. Looking back at the TACVIEW he flew a winding route back towards Falconera at 21,000 then suddenly nosedives into the sea. No enemy threats anywhere near and he had about 9,000 lbs of go juice when I sent him home.
Will try to recreate this behavior since I’m relatively certain this isn’t the first time it’s happened, just the first time I’ve seen someone say it’s worth looking into.

RE: BLU-107s hit short in U3?
@Micro_440th I would agree. Our wing qualifications include a low alt attack using the BLU107s in CCIP and when I flew it back in Feb of 23 on version 4.36 it seemed to work as expected.
