RE: HUD symbology layout comparison with the real jet
@buzzbomb why would you take this as (bad) critism? isn’t realism something we all look for in bms? i believe this type of feedback is one of the ways to improve the sim. i am well aware that it is a minor thing but so is the font used on the MFDs. nevertheless, they were edited to be visually closer to the real thing with the update from 4.34 to 4.35. i just wanted to bring this to the devs’ attention hoping that this is something that can be tweaked easily. if not, i will still be happy with what i have anyway.

RE: Engine fire
@dumba Hi, assuming you cold started the jet each time, did you switch the “air source” knob to “norm” position during start-up?

throttle snaps to idle during g-loc?
why does the throttle come back to idle from full ab position during g-loc? shouldn’t it essentially stay where it is when the pilot passes out? the side stick goes to a neutral position and stays there until the pilot regains consciousness as you would expect. however, the tqs defaults to idle instantly when the g-loc occurs regardless of the actual position of the axis assigned for throttle control. how realistic is this? in my opinion, the pilot’s hand does not even necessarily have to be on the throttle during high g maneuvers. you might use the “towel rack” handle to get some leverage to move under g etc… i also checked the manual but could not find any info explaining this behavior. i am curious as to why this is coded the way it currently is. any comments would be appreciated. long live bms, thanks!

RE: AIM 120
@Rouge1512
i just did. if you just press uncage and shoot when in SLAV mode without a bugged target, the missile is fired but it does not pick up anything. you have to switch to BORE mode on the SMS page. then, the missiles track and splash some targets. i think the avionics should either assume a bore shot when you long press uncage and pickle in SLAV mode or it should not allow the missile to leave the rail to avoid trashing an AMRAAM in that case. -
RE: AIM 120
And btw aim120 seeker is able to orientate its seeker but NOT scan.
does this mean that firing a “maddog” is not actually implemented? because earlier in 4.35, i had created a scenario in the dogfight module in order to test this. i tried firing all 6 slammers in BORE mode at about 15 oncoming bombers (i used bombers to obtain the biggest target RCS possible) at an altitude of 25000ft. first i locked the one in the rearmost and waited until it entered R-tr (Range turn & run), broke the lock, pitched up a bit and fired all my AMRAAMs in the general direction of the targets. i watched the ACMI tapes of my several attempts just to see the missiles follow their ballistic trajectory everytime without picking up any of the targets. some of the missiles flew very close by the bombers.
i did not try this anywhere other than the dogfight module, though.

RE: Roll trimming
@master-yoda I think this a pretty valid question. Being a Falcon simmer for as long as yourself, my personal very unprofessional take on this is that what the FLCS does is much more complicated and vital to the jet. It is not just adjusting trim in pitch, it also utilizes the rudder to keep the jet stable etc… Whereas the pitch/roll trim adjustment is something that can easily be commanded by pilot input depending on the given loadout, KIAS etc. However annoying that may be. If we go down this route, perhaps the FLCS should take off/land/AAR on its own (which may happen in not so distant future with the newer fighter jets. I read somewhere F-35B pretty much auto-lands in VTOL mode).

Slightly related question: what’s the “JACBUL” and “VAQUEROS” on the DED? Preset frequency names? Would there be a use for that in Falcon BMS?
JACBUL looks like the pre-assigned name for STPT 6 for this specific sortie. It might be some kind of abbreviation that could help the pilot distinguish between steerpoints.
VAQUEROS might be related to the selected VHF channel but that’s only my guess.
Could be the same exact thing as it is for the STP/bulls selected, some abreviation of the current Channel he is so i might assume that he is part of “Las Vaqueros” 152nd sq maybe…
Yes, the jet is from the 152nd Fighter Squadron indeed.

RE: HUD symbology layout comparison with the real jet
@airtex2019 It is most likely a blk40 or blk50 jet as the Auto GCAS is reportedly not compatible with the analog FLCS which was found on the earlier blocks.
The date of the incident is May 5th, 2016.
