Ordinarily I would just turn and run the moment I think I am being shot it by an arh mrm. However, I was deliberately putting myself into a scenario where I would not act till the flashing m appeared to try to find a way to defeat them. Ideally you deny the shot chance but that is not always feasible and its good to have a way to survive the shot you could not avoid getting launched at you. Most other games I have played chaff, ecm, and hard break turn are enough to defeat an incoming missile.

RE: Incoming missile have no effect on Chaff and Flare
actually its because the missile is flying a lead course and will crash into the ground when I pull out at tree top level or at least seems to otherwise when I get low and drop behind ridges or hills it blocks the seeker of the missile.

RE: Incoming missile have no effect on Chaff and Flare
I experimented with trying to defeat MRM’s and so far all I have found is to put the missile at my 3 or 9 then split s and pull out at tree top level. Even that was a 50/50 to be honest. IR only defense against advanced ones I have seen is to shoot first.

RE: Hornet flight model and aerial refueling
one issue I have seen with the hornet is your throttle. Be sure to not map both left and right throttles. My warthog is about 0.5% difference between left and right values which results in a slight yaw till I unmapped the second throttle.

RE: How many of us MP BMS guys (and gals?) are there anyways?
for me I think it could be the lack of ability to automate or simplify somethings if you want. For example, how bout an option to auto align your TGP and mavericks. I also find having to bother with trim after dropping bombs a hassle, how bout a single trim out the aircraft button. Same with data cartridges, there are many complicated multi-step procedures that while adding immersion can be a turn off to those who don’t want that levels of immersion that do not contribute to the main thing of putting weapons on target. Frankly, I just want to find targets on my scope lock them up and fire when in range, I don’t care about having to flip dozens of switches and dials or having to figure out which white box on the tgp in a town is a tank and which is a fruit stand. Also I find that most times I lose interest by the 3rd or 4th mission of a campaign when suddenly there are no more aircraft opposing me or SAMS left to fight you unless you fight along the tiny corridor between ai objectives, and I am basically working my way right toward Kim’s palace wiping every SAM I find in my way with no enemy aircraft in my area after the first mission. Frankly, my missions look nothing like Krause’s videos. Basically I have one challenging mission for 3-4 milk runs while that is realistic to me its a bit boring. Frankly, I want to feel exhilarated to be back in one piece at the end of my missions.

RE: The future of the sim..?
dx9 - dx10 is a major change actually. When I made that transition on my graphics engine I had to rewrite most of it. The issue is one of synchronous graphics calls in dx9 and asynchronous graphics calls in dx10. For example in dx9 you can update positions and shader variables up to the point you call draw. In dx10, if you do that your engine will be slow as a dog. This is due to the use of shader constant buffers in dx10 which when changed cause a pipeline stall. However, if the dx9 code was written to update all values then do the rendering in sequence without changing those values in between then it would be more trivial. Now , dx10 - dx11 is a small change. dx12 is ridiculously complicated.

RE: Odd mission failure
That would seem a bug as my success as an escort should not be contingent on the other group hitting their targets, but rather on their survival and reaching their target. Seems you need all human flights to do anything in this game as the AI can be quite stupid at times. For example, I once failed a sead mission because the ai decided to dive bomb with a jdam and got hit by an sa-7.

Odd mission failure
I was doing an escort mission. I hit all the waypoints and lost no aircraft to enemy activity ( there was no activity to find)and apparently I failed the mission. It says 0 loss to enemy AD but gives no reason for a failure at all. I would note there were some weird calls of hostile launch activity and phantom calls of a hostile at bearing 160 1000 feet but I did not find any aircraft and picture was reported clear and nearest threat was 50-60 nm away at best. Any ideas why it failed?

RE: Carrier ops question
found another issue with hornet. Don’t map second throttle, they never sync so your engines will push you to one side a bit because of that. If you have only one throttle mapped and the other keyboard the engines will be in sync.

RE: Carrier ops question
I switched to the vinson and was able to do 3 consective traps without issue. I don’t suppose they could add a I just want clearance I don’t need directions option to atc. Vinson rolls the other direction and slower than the enterprise.
