Rybo, just wanted to let you know we had good use of your advice today. Instructed my two flying buddies on how the OA1/2 stuff worked. First we did a training mission in horrible weather and did landing approaches using the technique. Then we did a campaign mission, flying a three ship OCA-Strike into N Korea. Used the technique to setup alignment point on the edges of the runway, then rolled in in trail formation and dropped a total of 24 Mk82:s destroying the runway, before heading home. Mission complete and everyone came home in one piece. Good fun!

RE: CSEL in the Viper?
It’s more involved than rolling the CSEL knob around, but you can also achieve a similar effect using offset aimpoints on the DEST page on the DED. If you add entries for OA1 and OA2 you’ll have a nice set of lineup cues presented in the HUD.
Rybo, looked through the video now. That stuff is so cool. Gotta try it out right away! Thanks!

RE: CSEL in the Viper?
In BMS, you can draw additional steerpoint lines (use the ruler to draw their headings correctly) and save them to the DTC in BMS. Indeed, this helps in the situations you mentioned. Furthermore, you can use the HSI course knob to align yourself correctly.
Thank you! Tried rotating the course knob, and that does indeed do approximately what I’m looking for (except I cannot see the line on the HSD, but I guess I can live with looking down to find that information when I need it).

CSEL in the Viper?
When I flew a F/A-18E sim back in the days, I remember using a function called CSEL that rendered a line through my current WP or TCN position, stretching all the way to the edges of the HSI (similar to the Viper HSD). The heading of this line could be adjusted (0-360) by turning a knob. This was very useful to get a visual representation of the carrier’s heading or the runway alignment, especially in bad weather (turn it to the runway angle and you’ll basically see the final course before landing). Also pretty good to setup prior to a ground attack on a highway or a runway.
Is there a similar function in the Viper?
Attaching an image of the Super Hornet HSI. TCN steering, CSEL enabled and set to 122. Notice the line rendered straight through the TCN position pointing in the 122 heading.

External view of other aircraft
Hi! I’m pretty new to BMS, so sorry in advance for any stupid questions.
I’m flying the campaign together with two friends. Is there is any command that switches the camera to view one of the other players (or other wingmen in the flight)? Just like the “0-keystroke” view, but for other aircraft? It would be fun to watch the other guys as they are coming in for landing after I’ve landed, or to look at them when they fly home after I’ve been shot down by AAA-fire because of clumsy low-flying for the fifth time(!).
