Good day everyone,
Version
4.35.1 (x64), Build 23064
Expected Behavior
IRL, the Al-Tariq is a gliding PGM (Precision Guided Munition), able to be guided using GPS/INS, laser, and IR image computing. In these regards, it can be compared to the Israeli SPICE bomb, or the French AASM - minus the propulsion.
In BMS, while we don’t have all of the fancy image-treatment algorithms they do, we do however have GPS/INS + laser guided weapons, like the GBU-54. We could then expect BMS to make it act like a GBU-54, but with longer range due to its gliding abilities.
Description
However, when I was testing it with the Mirage 2000-9, it showed up in the SMS as a GBU-12. Thus, it was not capable of GPS tracking, had no range difference, and didn’t hit the target unless a laser was on it. This was confirmed by live-fire tests.
Reproducibility Procedure
1. Take any plane capable of carrying the Al-Tariq bomb.
2. When in the air, go to A/G mastermode, and look at the SMS. The Al-Tariq will show up as “G12”.
3. A live fire test will confirm that the Al-Tariq indeed acts like a GBU-12, and not like the more modern, long-range, GPS/INS/laser guided munition it should be.
Remarks
As this bomb could be of great use for the ongoing TvT campaign, it would be greatly appreciated if this fix made it into the upcoming U2. Thank you for your time !
