RE: [REL] Dummy D3D DLL's that draws nothing in 3D mode
Anybody got luck with linux headless + vnc?
Working on a debian wheezy i386 vserver:
1. startx + x11vnc allows working glxgears but BMS crashes with a lot of d3ddevice setdisplaymode errors (got the feeling a simulated monitor or sth like that is needed…???)
2. vncserver -geometry 1366x768 -localhost -alwaysshared :2 cannot do glxgears due to “Error: couldn’t get an RGB, Double-buffered visual”
and bms:

Even tried the sid version of tightvncserver as sthalik proposed…
Any proposals? Since ~hour nr. 15 I am quite open for every tiny piece of advice…

RE: [REL] Dummy D3D DLL's that draws nothing in 3D mode
Thing is: Because of legal reasons it might not be the best idea to preinstall falcon bms as tempting as it might be… But I guess one way or another one can find an acceptable solution for the end-user…

RE: [REL] Dummy D3D DLL's that draws nothing in 3D mode
Just to make sure I got you,
you build a deb earlier. dumped everything out. installed the deb and put all stuff from the .tar.xz into your /usr overwriting the original files? That sounds like a mess to maintain
have you tried replacing the files inside the deb package?
might save some work and allow the whole thing to be installed on other systems fasterIt’s not about the installation on other systems, it was about sending a message (I was just tired of no good result: One step ahead of the other ) Long term idea for me is a easy-to-use bootable live-system + easy install script on debian based systems containing everything you need to run a BMS server + IVC. But that obviously will take time.

RE: [REL] Dummy D3D DLL's that draws nothing in 3D mode
Did you use the binaries I posted? If so, do you need info on how I built them?
Yes I used them. The required build parameters would be of great help!
@ uri_ba: I kicked a lot (except the Falcon Installation): wine + apt-get purge “^libgl1” + all swx-libs + osmesa-libs & stuff to get a ~“clean” system again
Then I installed apt-get install xorg + an “old” (=already compiled) wine.deb of sthaliks branch and copied his files from the tar.xz to the right place and BOOM it’s working!
(Oh and I made xinit to fire up a xterm in X which I used to fire up Falcon BMS so I had no gnome, kde, …)

RE: [REL] Dummy D3D DLL's that draws nothing in 3D mode
Have fun with it, no need to install Ubuntu
Just purge “^libgl1” first, and run a regular xorg. apt-get install xorg.
PROFIT! Working!!! In the debian virtualbox!!! Thank you very much sthalik! :woohoo: You’re the man! So mesa-swx 8.0.5 for debian was broken?

RE: [REL] Dummy D3D DLL's that draws nothing in 3D mode
No need to get upset!
I’m getting the game running 5-10 fps (by pure looks of it - haven’t tested it).
My guess of that is, that he has got a “normal” 3D world. Otherwise he would not be able to guess the framerate, would he? So he is no help for me atm, since what he achieved on his old desktop I achieved on my laptop two days ago. Just facts. I won’t give anybody root access to anything. Nothing personal.
I did not want to bother you! Maybe I’ll just sit and wait a bit until somebody figures it out and is willing to tell what he did to get there.
(And just as info: I tried a linux mint xfce virtualbox, my linux mint laptop and a debian testing virtualbox, approximately I compile your wine branch the sixth or seventh time (and usually this isn’t fast or fun) and I guess at least the last four times of that I double checked the checkout. Not to mention I tested everything over a vncserver. On top of that I - of course - tried various other little tweaks and ways. I am not too lazy or just too stupid to get it work! :?)

RE: [REL] Dummy D3D DLL's that draws nothing in 3D mode
winetricks says d3dx9_43 would be already installed and skips everything.
I’m currently compiling wine on a debian virtualbox with pretty much nothing else installed. My current guess is your wine (even with the proper checkout) finds and uses some pretty fancy hardware acceleration libs on my laptop during compiling without me noticing.
Maybe it would be good idea if you would release a little linux howto with all necessary commands in one place. AFAIK even for uri_bagot it’s not working the way it should (just like for me in the first place)

RE: [REL] Dummy D3D DLL's that draws nothing in 3D mode
Quick Update,
Managed to get it to workCould you tell us what you changed to get it working?
I installed
libosmesa6-dev libgl1-mesa-swx11-dev
I also had to change the –enable-opengl parameter:
loki@linux-mint ~/BMS/wine-hacks $ ./configure --prefix=/usr --with-opengl #success loki@linux-mint ~/BMS/wine-hacks $ cat config.log | grep -i opengl $ ./configure --prefix=/usr --with-opengl opengl32_test.res \ OPENGL_LIBS='-lGL'
Problem stays the same
Update:
$ env LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=true glxgears 2131 frames 5.0 seconds = 426.124 FPS ```I see the gears moving (over vnc), but Falcon is not impressed by these env vars :nosep:
