Many thanks,
Forgot about the ole Tom being analog/non-FBW. She saw a lot of upgrades and numerous improvements. I thought the D model was finally what everyone wanted her to be from the very beginning. Going to try Owsen’s pit for starters and go from there. I’ve even thought of completely swapping out the current FM and substituting perhaps the F-18. If that’s possible and not considered heresy be the community. I don’t have broadband out here in the countryside of Florida, therefore, I won’t be using any such “cheating” to go head to head with anyone online. It’s just more important to have a stable firing platform from which to deal with the enemy, where you can concentrate on the firing solution instead of the handling. Looking forward to more help and sound advice soon.

RE: F-14 flight model
Thanks for getting back so fast,
Going to try Owsen’s mod and see how it looks and works. I think your right on about the center line loadout. I usually carry 6 AIM-54C and 2 AIM-9 when the mission is long range Fleet Defense. Although the alignment seems to be symmetrical, perhaps there is some unknown unequal drag involved. I’ll see what other combinations of external stores do to the handling. This might take a while, so, as they say, “stay tuned”.

Thanks for the response,
Would like very much to try your universal pit “mod”. Will check back soon for a place to download it and give it “the old college try!”. I hope a FULL set of install instructions will come with it, as I’m still all but brand new to BMS. See ya then.

F-14 flight model
Greetings Fellow Airmen,
First post in the general discussion area, so here goes. I love the way the F-16 handles. Rock solid and stable. You get the wings level and the nose where you want, and it stays right there. Wish I could say the same for the Tomcat. I’m constantly having to trim the plane in all 3 aspects. It just will not settle down. Was planning to progress to the F-18, but really would like to get the Tom squared away first. Because, once I am comfortable with all 3 A/C, I’d like to start creating a series of TEs that might be one of those “what-if” things out there in the SCS. This will also bring up some other threads in the future, but for now it’s best to take things one at the time. On the plus side, even though the current cockpit only has to two MFDs, having discovered which commands control the functions (for the most part), Taking out the enemy A/C at longer ranges than the AMRAAM can reach with the AIM-54C has become pretty straight forward. :headb:. However, this brings me to another subject as long as I’m here. Are there other, more functional cockpits around that would be compatible with BMS and acceptable with the rest of the community. Saw a really nice pit on a YouTube video produced by some folks at Veterans-Gaming.com. That’s probable enough questions for now. Don’t want to wear out my welcome.
Remember, Beware the Hun in the Sun,
Thanks folks,
