RE: SweetFX for BMS
Iâve contributed on the sweetfx skyrim shaders in part and I can tell you this doesnât work, as with any and all sweetfx installations, the sweetfx directory has to be in the same directory as the games executable. Not separate in BMSâs data directory. Also d3d9.fx, shader.fx and the relevant settings files all have to be in the executables directory too. Thatâs how it works. The âsharpnessâ function only works in the menu, not the game, as that was a throwback from itâs Enb origins.
When itâs setup properly, BMS doesnât load. Thatâs because BMS conflicts with the wrappers shaders, which is too big to load. Only ENB 0.76 works with BMS but the bloom fx is buggy and washes out the screen, itâs difficult to switch off
Totally bogus, that sample picture was not done by sweetfx, I can assure you
20 pages of discussions by many people here trying sweetFX successfuly (some after a little help) posting pictures with the exact setup you dare to call âbogusââŚ
Have you ever tried it yourself , before coming out with your âassuranceâ??
Want to put some money where your BIG mouth is?
Iâve just wasted 3 minutes of my time on you.

RE: SweetFX for BMS
Hi all,
Iâm posting the SweetFX 1.5.1 version.
Iâve uploaded it here as BMS compatible folder,
Just copy/paste into your BMS folder.
itâs also JSGME compatible this way (I started using it with DCS as well). My settings file is included with subtle tweaking, mainly Sharpening, but I also experiment with curves.
I left it for a while now, so more tweaking needs to be done, everyone to their liking of course.Enjoy

RE: SweetFX for BMS
i donât want sweetfsx for 4.33 âŚ. just too cartoonish ⌠looks like you increased contrast, increased colour, and reduced a bit of Gamma ⌠seriously, it looks like in a comic book .
Itâs a matter of taste⌠You can tune to black and white if you likeâŚ
I like the sharpening tool the most,
but I would love to have sweetfx integrated into 4.33 and adjust it the way I want. Thatâs whatâs great about it. It can fit multiple pc settings and hardware, monitors and tastes.
You donât like it? Disable it. Simple as that.
If it would be integrated, it could be more controlled and easy to tweak and manage. -
RE: SweetFX for BMS
@DeltaMikeNL:
Hi all,
Anyone got a hold onto a screencapture application for games that can record BMS with SweetFX in action? Tried the ACTION! application http://www.mirillis.com/en/products/action.html but that does not seem to work either.
Thanks in advance!
DeltaMikeThe PrtScn (print screen) button does it for you already, built in BMS as well, so it actually takes 2 screenshots,
one is BMSâs default screenshot and path, and the other is the SweetFX screenshot into a different folder.
You can change the default key to capture SweetFX screenshots via the âinjector.iniâ file if you like to separate the origin of the capture. -
RE: SweetFX for BMS
If you like it in game but the menu has gone bad,
You can always disable it with the scroll lock key, and enable it back in 3D⌠-
RE: New NVIDIA drivers
@Aof:
I have a 680 GTX but with an i7 and I donât see micro stutters at all. And I must say I am VERY sensitive to micro stutter, enough that I donât run an SLI setup.
I have seen some micro stutter in other games like oblivion, which I DIDNâT have with my very old 8800 GTX, interestingly enough.I doubt it, but are you sure itâs not low FPS actually instead of micro stutter? Have you used fraps to check your framerates?
Hi,
Iâve used the in game FPS counter and frames are between 40-60 in Korea.
Iâve reduced object density to 5-4, no changeâŚ.EDIT : Uninstalled and reinstalled all fresh into SSD. No Joy⌠HelpâŚâŚ
Any solution??

RE: New NVIDIA drivers
Hi,
[Iâve posted similar question related to SweetFX, but theres more to it - itâs a Card/driver problem I guess].I got a new GTX 680 after years with ATI cards.
Running the latest Nvidia drivers (314.22) - I get micro stutters that were never there with ATI (5870) on the exact same system.
I used the new drivers (314.22) then reverted to 306.97 after searching the forums, but I see no difference.
I tried to tweak with BMS/Driver settings with little improvement but still did not lose the micro stutters.
tested only in ITO which had no problems before, nor any other theater I used.
Edit: tested also in Korea takeoff training, with/without a second monitor, and no change - still micro stutters! My specs: Win 7/64, Asus P5Q, Q9550@ 3.07GHz, 4 GB RAM, GTX 680 2GB, TIR3. running on 2 monitors with MFDE and BMS internal display extraction on a 15" monitor.
I know my system currently bottlenecks the graphic card, but still, I played it on the highest settings with no problem with the older ATI card.
(not to mention that with SweetFX itâs unplayable at all with heavy stutters and massive FPS drop).
Is ATI more âBMS friendlyâ than Nvidia?? I had no problems with any ATI card or driver in BMSâŚPlease HELP!

RE: SweetFX for BMS
Hi guys,
News: a new SweetFX version is out (1.4) :
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=376265Now I have a problemâŚ
I got a new GTX 680 after years with ATI cards.
Running the latest Nvidia drivers (314.22) - I get a massive drop in FPS and minor stutters when running SweetFX , even while not running any post process, just turning it on.
Anyone experienced it like that?? ATI was smooth (5870 card).
Thanks! -
RE: SweetFX for BMS
I get less performance (7 or 8 FPS less) what am I doing wrong? I have installed the latest drivers from NVIDIA (v.310.70) and I have activated a special setting when starting BMS. Of course I put all the files in the right place and I disabled Multisampling in BMS graphic setup. These two images are the settings for my graphics card (gfx560ti):
Hi,
Please read this post in this thread regarding how to check :Happy new year

RE: SweetFX for BMS
Well I think its a known issue and been worked on so AA is WIP, so lets give them a chance to get it rightâŚâŚbut yeah even at max AA settings AA was as you say âminimalâ, but canât understand why the FPS is taken hits at high AA settings if the result is poor?, oh well hope they sort it.;)
You do have to disable In gameâs AA/MultiSampling, But, You can still enable the graphics Card Drivers AA and force them to run AA,
So SweetFx will not crash that way, and thus you can have better AA, and still use SweetFX other settings - if your graphics card can handle it.SweetFXâs AA is a different faster lighter method for smoothing, it is known as faster but has lesser quality than traditional AA.
For me itâs good enough. for some - not. up to you.
About FPS drop - make sure you check correctly :
1. BMS with MultiSampling ON , and no SweetFX installed.
2 .Then BMS with MultiSampling OFF with SweetFX running ONLY SMAA, and not any other thing.Do not compare FPS only by disabling SFX, pressing the Scroll lock key! then you will leave BMS with no AA at all, and sure enough - your FPS will riseâŚ

RE: SweetFX for BMS
Hi all,
The files and screenshots Iâve originally uploaded were for demo only and were not âreallyâ tweaked or optimal for BMS.
Iâm still experimenting with them myself.
there is however a configuration tool : http://sweetfx.thelazy.net/
This tool works for some games whoâs files structure allows SweetFX to copied right to the gameâs root folder.
BMS is not like that.
thatâs why I messed around with the files to find the correct structure it will work with bms. (basically implementing ROF setting over BMSâs).
So Iâve posted those instructions and screenshots of how to split the files to the correct places.
Itâs totally harmless and reversible if you donât like it (just delete those files, itâs not replacing any original files).Alter the settings file just to see a difference in picture, and see it actually works (If it hasnât crashed on load - meaning you miss installed it or left Multi Sampling enabled).
Every one has their own favorite settings and taste, together with different monitors and graphic cards which produce countless variations and outcomes.
Thatâs the beauty of it. (and a source of a light headache too :).
Follow the exact installation procedure (not very complicated really), and experiment.
There is no real Optimal BMS settings.
Choose your flavor and flyPersonally I use some Sharpening, SMAA, and HDR or DPS settings.
Settings that are fine for day flights , are not always as good at night, so I have to test some moreâŚCheers,

RE: SweetFX for BMS
Hi all,
About problems reported with FPS drop using SweetFX, please try to compare apples to apples⌠meaning - if you test AA, then check it without sweetfx installed first.
Verify AA in CCC for example is also turned off, or is set to âuse application settingsâ,
other wise you will be running CCC AA both with SweetFX SMAA turned onâŚthen you will definitely have an FPS drop!
check a specific scenario in a known location and angle ,and mark your FPS.
Then switch AA off in BMS and install sweetfx. check the same exact scenario only with âSMAA_ANTIALIASING 1â switched on. verify all the rest of the switches are OFF.
also split screen.
Then check again your FPS in same scenario.
All reports made so far, comparing âapples to applesâ , have higher FPS.
off-course if you check it with HDR/Bloom etcâ, it is not for âfreeâ, and has itâs FPS cost.
You must run the testâs correctly or you will not get true results.Regarding CrazyTomâs concerns about âinvasionâ to other games⌠well, it is installed, or rather copy paste action, directly to your specific game folder, and runs only when you run that exe where all the dllâs are.
itâs a known safe method, like ENBseries, or âiCEnhancerâ for GTA for example.
It has got nothing to do with other game folders and/or the graphic driver.
you have nothing to be concerned about.
it is safe!Another thing,
Iâm playing with the SMAA settings and get very nice results regarding AA, it looks smooth and all. the problem is in the cockpit on the MFDâs,
the fonts seems a bit blurry with it. I could not find good enough settings for that.
Iâm using ATI 5870. a friend with Nvidia 570 has reported no such problems.
Has anyone noticed it and found a good settings/balance for this issue?
Again, verify your drivers AA is OFF, or set to âapplication settingsâ to get true results. Thanks!

RE: SweetFX for BMS
Iâm using the SweetFX config program that properly installs/uninstalls for you. Disabling Multisampling doesnât work.
Well, donât use the configurator tool in BMS, as it installs the files to the main folder and does not split them to the correct paths.
It does not recognize BMS and itâs file structure, therefore installs to a default location regardless of the actual game.
it works in some other games. -
RE: SweetFX for BMS
while writing this post I saw âHeXxâ has posted some instructions as well. thanks!
Anyway - I will add my 2 cents:Instructions in screenshots :
1. First go to Falcon and disable MultiSampling:
2. Then install SweetFX under these folders:
3. Run BMS.
It runs with split screen by default.
if you want to see a big difference and verify it runs - switch the vibrance in the settings file
(you can use my attached file from post #10), to 1 [enabled] and change (down in the file) Vibrance value to 1.00.
(I run it at 0.10 now, but it depends on your monitor and other settings as well as your taste.)
You will see a split screen with the right side very âcartoonishâ colors nowâŚyou can toggle SweetFX on/off by pressing the (default) âscroll lockâ button. you will see the âoldâ falcon look.
(you can edit the buttons in the âinjector.iniâ file).you can alt-tab to the settings file (you can leave it open) and change values there. save, and alt-tab back to the game.
Press the (default) âPauseâ key (next to scroll lock key) - it will âinjectâ the changes you just made, so you can see it âon the flyââŚ
print screen takes SweetFX screenshots to the data folder (other than the default screenshot folder).Tweak it and share your screenshots with the settings file attached for us to learn from.
ENJOY!!
CheersâSetupâ/Ron

RE: SweetFX for BMS
Guys, read post number 10 again, there are instructions there.
Donât forget to disable in game multi sampling first.
It works well with windows 7 64 bit.
Not with 64 bit executables. Yet. (DCS on 64 machines).
Important you put the files under the correct folders!
will post later, as Iâm writing from my phone.
And do post screenshotsâŚâŚ -
RE: SweetFX for BMS
Youâre welcome LZ!
Glad it can sort out things as wellâŚAbout FPS improvements - you should remember to check it without the MOD first and MultiSapmpling on, and then check it off, and run the MOD again with itâs method of AA.
it can vary according to your AA settings as well, as you can see - there is allot to tweak thereâŚ.
In ARMA 2 it is implemented (with sharpening as an option) in game and replaces the classic AA, allowing noticeably higher FPS. -
RE: SweetFX for BMS
well, as I said, you can set it up however you like. if itâs too cartoonish - you can even turn down vibrance to negative values and make in black and white.
thatâs the beauty of it - totally adjustable (even too much - can be confusing), and you can make it look like a 60âs movie with sepia and vignette onâŚ
All up to youAbout installation:
there are 2 parts, one part goes to the Bin\x86 folder - (4 files) and the other goes to Data folder (4 files+SweetFX folder).
Iâm posting the folder tree view here.
donât forget first to disable MultiSampling to make it work.
there is an injector.ini file that allows you to set your desired keys to enable/disable the mod in game, take screenshots and inject changes you made on the fly.
and of course the setting file where you set everythingâŚ
read the readme and start having fun playing with it.
post screen shots here with your settings configuration so we can all learn from it and possibly reach an optimum setting.
Attached is my current settings which are in progress. Do try to make your own and post it.Cheers!
