The more competition with new innovations between the companies will hopefully drive the quality of the HOTAS up and the prices down.

RE: FoxVox Free voice control software for BMS
One of these days I’m going to get the time to add this to my system.

RE: Winwing launches F-16 ICP
Everything WinWing makes is supposed to be able to work with BMS. I asked their support staff about it before I bought my HOTAS from them. Haven’t had any problems so far.

RE: Santa's wishlist for BMS
Due to current work schedule I haven’t been able to fly as much as I would like too. I’m still flying 4.36 since the upgrades in 4.37 would require learning more procedures to be able to survive i.e. the jammer. I love the sim and the dedication of the dev team. Only thoughts I’ve had is the pilot profile making the trip into each upgrade. I’ve also noticed that AWACS will warn other flights in the package of enemy aircraft approaching but never contact my flight directly. I was also wondering if enemy units shouldn’t be updating on the briefing map and staying marked in their last known location.
Just a couple of thoughts I’ve had. I love this sim and this site. I always learn something new whenever I log in.

RE: Full screen problem.
And before I forget I really appreciate your help with this. This interaction with the BMS community is great for everyone.

RE: Full screen problem.
My monitor is a couple of years old. It’s a LG Ultragear 34GL750. All resolutions are set at 2560x1080 144hz. From what I’ve read it seems BMS runs better in HDR for me. Supposed to give a brighter and more realistic(?) image. I mirrored Unleashed Code’s setup in his video he released for 4.33. Like I said I’m still slowly learning the ins and outs of what I’ve got. I’m sure my rig has more potential than I have knowledge. LOL

RE: Full screen problem.
I’ll have to check on this tomorrow since I’m at work now. I’m pretty sure I’m running the 32-bit RGB version. To me the screen in (I guess) HDR is a bit brighter and of course doesn’t have the flickering. Monitor is 4K but I never checked to see what it is actually set at. NVidia is set at 2580x1080 which was automatically set with G-Sync. Like I said this is knowledge I’m slowly learning as I go.

RE: Full screen problem.
Ok just flew another mission. Tried the [Alt+Enter] and noticed an immediate change. Both screens were full but different tints. The full screen with more of a blue hue was flickering while the other wasn’t. I’d switch out of the blue hued one (Don’t know the technical term) and the HDR box would pop up also. It also changed the window size after I exited out to the debrief screen with the blue hue being the smaller window. So I’m guessing one of the screens has to do with G-Sync or 4K?? My computer understanding is slowly coming around from 20 years ago.

RE: Full screen problem.
Just started Balkans Deny Flight 2.
G-Sync monitor set @ 2560x1080
Refresh rate is at 144hz (“Highest Available” setting in the NVidiea control panel)Flashing/Flickering is whole screen and constant. Almost like when you fly through clouds and you get the anti-collision strobe in the pit. More noticeable in the sky and not so much in the pit. Seems like there is heavier cloud cover right now which got me to thinking I had my cloud density set wrong. It’s still set on “Default” with “High Resolution Textures” checked.
Flew while ago (4th mission) and didn’t notice any flickering. See some texture flickering on the ground while starting the jet but I wrote that off to the amount of detail and head movement with TrackIR.

RE: Full screen problem.
@Amadeus75 Yep I found that in one of the threads but it didn’t work. Haven’t tried it since I restored the defaults though. I’ll try it tomorrow and see what happens.

RE: Full screen problem.
Restored defaults in VVidia control panel and reentered settings. Now have full screen in 3D which was the goal. All 2D screens still in windowed mode. Only thing left is to play with the settings a bit more to get rid of the flashing while flying.

Full screen problem.
Need some help. Grandson snuck in while I had my NVidia control window open along with the game and made some changes. Was checking to see if I needed to make a change due to the screen flashing while flying. I found what he changed in NVidia and got full screen back on another game but Falcon isn’t cooperating. Tried different resolutions but that isn’t working. I have an LG 32" Ultragear curved screen monitor and a RTX 3080. What am I missing?? I’d appreciate all the help I can get. It’s got me stumped.

RE: BMS 4.36 and Windows
@airtex2019 Thanks for your help. I just got back from a small job for a friend so I wasn’t able to get back in and work on the problem. You were right and I had to go in and delete the registry key. Of course that was after renewing WinZip and loading the new version. Which also had a hidden file stopping me from reloading it. Still can’t figure out why everything went sideways after Windows updated.

RE: BMS 4.36 and Windows
It’s Windows 10. I did find an uninstall in a folder I didn’t know existed. Course now I have to go to work so I won’t be able to try again. Thanks for pointing me at the registry key. I don’t like to fool around in there because I’m afraid of screwing around and making a change that’ll require reloading the whole system.

RE: BMS no longer starts
Mine stopped working after a Windows update a few days ago. 4.36 and Alt. Launcher wouldn’t even open. I posted on Tech Support and hoping someone can help me out. Everything worked fine until after the update. Funny thing is 4.35 works just fine.

BMS 4.36 and Windows
I have a problem and hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Key word “HAD” 4.36 with all of the updates along with Balkans campaign and 4.35 running through Alt. Launcher. TrackIR , WDP, and using the Alt. Launcher to program my WinWing HOTAS. Program was running great until Windows updated a few days ago. Alt. Launcher stopped loading as did 4.36. Wouldn’t even let me uninstall. I deleted (I think?) everything but 4.35 and original. Downloaded 4.36 “Full Installer” and it said it couldn’t see the original Falcon 4 program. Deleted 4.36 and then checked 4.35 which opened and runs without fail. Now I have 3 drives with system ops on “C”, Falcon 4 original on “D”, and BMS on “E”. Anybody have any ideas? It all worked fine until the update. My knowledge of computers is stuck back in 2000. Slowly learning this system I bought last year but to be honest I spent most of my free time flying and not exploring.

RE: Falcon BMS Acronyms
You might add FUBAR. It usually happens just when you think everything is fine. Example: first Baltic mission I flew everything went just fine until I contacted the tower 30 miles out. Pulled the throttle back to idle, heard a bang, looked back over my left shoulder to see I was leaving a nice dark smoke trail. Tried to restart and found it was FUBAR. Called for SAR and ejected.

RE: AN/APG-83 SABR
@Stevie - USMC has a history of always starting off behind the times. WW2 main rifle 1903 Springfield, main fighter Brewster Buffalo at the start. They were authorized 1,167 aircraft in 1939 but on 12/09/1941 had 230. Marines didn’t get the M1 Garand until they utilized a supply they found on the beach at Guadalcanal. WW2 ended and there was then talk of disbanding the Marines and the SecDef attempted to transfer all aviation assets to newly created USAF and others. Korea wasn’t much separation time between wars so ground weapons were from late WW2 but main fighter was the F9F Panther and still used F4U Corsair for CAS up until 1953 with the added plus of helicopters being utilized in combat. After Korea there was more support from the SecNav and weapon improvements actually caught up but procurement still was controlled by the DepNavy. Marines replaced the F-4, A-4, and A-6 with the F/A-18, brought on the MV-22 to replace older helicopters, and upgraded the rest to keep down costs. They are hoping the F-35’s will replace the F/A-18, AV-8B, and EA-6B but again the budget will determine where they go forward. Hell it’s actually something we’re kind of proud of, we complain about the old stuff, but still get the job done. Improvise, Overcome, Adapt.

RE: AN/APG-83 SABR
@Stevie -Biggest problem the USMC has is budget money. Since they fall under the Dept. of USN they usually have to make do with what they’ve got. Add in the budget cuts of previous administrations, which made things even worse, and with the added bonus of those who believe the USMC should be completely decarded, they have to make do with what they have. Look how long they utilized the F-4, A-4, A-6, CH-46; hell they didn’t retire their last C-117 (C-47) until 1981 (could’ve been 82). I agree about upgrading to the Super Hornet, which may still happen if the F-35 doesn’t fulfill expectations. They have a habit of regrouping and retooling.

AN/APG-83 SABR
Got to read an article last night while on duty about the up-grade of the radar for the Vipers called the AN/APG 83 SABR. The NG squadron around DC have already made the switch which takes around a day and a half. Pull out the old 68 and slide in the 83. Not a lot of technical info in the article but it did mention an increase in the ability to track/target more than 2 at a time with improvement in jamming resistance. Also mentioned the probability that part of the up-grade was a replacement of the center console below the ICP with a larger MFD (?) screen used by the IDF. Supposed to be a huge improvement in radar capability for the Viper. Could be a nice addition to BMS.
