FAIR WARNING: Sketchup models
-
Gents & Gurlz,
A great resource for FREE 3D models with free licensing\sharing has been taken over by the Money Mongrels.
That resource is 3D Warehouse. Formally “owned” by Google it is now owned by Trimble Navigation Limited.
IF you are DL’ding and converting .skp models for Falcon use, you need to go and read the NEW “terms of use” on the site.
It seems to me that they are doing a Lost Pursuit type of thing i.e. taking FREE work and trying to sell it. I could be wrong?
BUT, suffice it to say that going forward I will be contacting the original author, when possible, before using a model in Falcon.
I suggest we all do the same.Be careful and diligent,

I think 3d models made using Google Sketchup are bad 3d models , because of the amount of vertices created by the software.
-
I agree Metalhead, Sketchup warehouse models are almost all out of specs…
-
There are too much double lines and vertices at the same location in the 3d models from G-sketchup.
Lines = edges -

demerAye, sir
Agree totally on all yours above, but with Metalhead’s too
With best regards,

I did not start this thread to debate whether or not a model made in Sketchup, Maya, Autodesk, Rhino or the plethora of other modelling software is any better or worse than that of their competitors.
I started it to shout out that the rules have changed. I do not want to see another Eagle611\Nizmo debacle going forward with some VERY skilled 3D modellers that are NOT under WaveyDaves tutelage or part of the BMS team.
3rd party development in Falcon has ALWAYS been the catalyst for ANY iteration to move forward. It would be sad to read that some great modelling efforts were lost over this. They have been in the past……Sigh!Sincere,

demerThank you a lot for info Demer. Fortunately, Nizmo and Eagle61 wasn’t “VERY skilled 3D modellers”.
