Aegean 1.5 validating install possible???
-
Dears,
we in the squadron have the following issue since 1.5:
We all (>16 people) are connected in 2D - all good.
Upon switching to 3D the server crashes. BUMP
What could be reason before I start to write here any technical details??? As with 1.3 we had no issues, we are expecting a single/ two guys having cramped their install!
Currently, we are running tests like single players connecting into 3D and identifying upon whose connect we lose the server. But is there any safe way to check the install? Is there any way to make a serious trouble-shooting???
This is of course a show stopper for 1.5 atm but I believe that this error is upon us and not on the theater!
Any help very much appreciated in the name of the 1st GloryWings,
thanks.
stingray -
OK, issue is becoming strange -> random people crash the server, sometimes player number 3, sometimes player number 7, …
thanks for help
-
Gents,
disregard. We have identified that all could connect with no probs in 3D with a new and naked TE. Seems to be related with the TE.
TE was set up on a naked 1.5 TE template.
Where could be the issue? Our server guru will post here some technical details!
thx

Hello,
i’m the server “guru” of the 1stGW and will add some more infos: last week we had the first test with 1.5 and had already issues, one client let the server crash. Today we tried it the second time, today we had different clients which let the server crash. After that we tried it on a different server with a different TE and all worked fine.
We now have a test on the original server with a standard TE and it works fine so long, so it looks like the TE ist broken, can someone confirm this? I’ve attached the TE and the crashlog of the server, thx in advance for your efforts!

Hello,
i’m the server “guru” of the 1stGW and will add some more infos: last week we had the first test with 1.5 and had already issues, one client let the server crash. Today we tried it the second time, today we had different clients which let the server crash. After that we tried it on a different server with a different TE and all worked fine.

Hi there my friend.
Well i can’t check on a server with a lot of clients in order to provide feedback.
But, i see that you said that some clients make a crash on a specific server with a specific created mission. In an other server with an other mission no issues! Then a test in the default server (the first one) with a standard mission (means ?) with no issues.
All the previous show to me that probably is something with the specific created mission on the first server.
Are you sure that every client has the correct Aegean v1.5 with nothing extra added?
Are you sure that the specific mission created on a “clean” Aegean v1.5? I was posted that it is not correct and safe to use created missions from Aegean v1.3!Question: Are you sure that all the clients use the same “te_new.tac” file? Means that all the pilots have the same “blue” side of the folder “Optional TE_new” or the default one that has Hellas as blue side. This is critical, so do a check that everyone has either the default “te_new.tac” file or agree about which one you want to have in use.
When you spot the issue, please post here in order to help others. Thank you.

Thx for the info, we will look into it and report when we’ve found something.
Some additional info: the first test was with a TE made with mission commander and Aegean 15 by our C/O. This didn’t work serveral times, our squadron server crashed.
Next step was that a pilot made the server, on this machine we used a quickly made simple TE just with enough planes so everyone could join. That worked on the first try.
Than we copied this simple TE to our squadron server, all clients connected to this server and could join the TE without crashing the server, all worked fine.
For me it looks like the first test TE is porked (the one i’ve attached in my first post), at the moment we haven’t a clue whats wrong with it.
At least we’re pretty sure our problem is not caused by your theatre

Hi there my friend “Reaper58th”.
Thank you for your reply post, you help to we all of us understand the situation as also to try to find any needed solution!
Now, may i suggest something:
Due to your probably correct spotted situation of the first “bad” created mission, please do this:
Try to create as close as you can the specific mission (the first “bad” one), but this time into a for sure “clean” Aegean v1.5 theater and via its Tactical Engagement builder, NOT via Mission Commander. Also keep the same number of “slots” for pilots.
Then be sure that ALL the pilots have a “clean” Aegean v1.5 theater installed without anything extras! Be cautious with the “te_new.tac” file, better leave all of you the default one, Hellas as blue side! Also IF you created the specific mission with the default “te_new.tac” file THEN of course all the pilots be sure that use the same specific “te_new.tac” file! This is very important! Last fly the mission all of you at the default server that was given the crash.
If now you are stable, then it is for sure something with the Mission Commander program. Then you can either inform its creator or to stay in Tactical Engagement builder of BMS for safe and stable created missions. Please report back here your test result. This will be valuable and very important for me that the specific version is stable. Thank you.
Nikos.

I will forward your request to our TE builder, as soon i’ve more additional information i will drop a message here.

Let me just add: THANKS Nikos your your outstanding support and your endless efforts with this theater!

Let me just add: THANKS Nikos your your outstanding support and your endless efforts with this theater!
Thank you for your kindly words my friend!
I really hope to like and enjoy this “baby” theater… I’m trying my best to support it with some great friends to my side, that i thank them inside my heart!
Every simple man, every small or big company (maybe virtual squadrons) that use this theater, makes me very-very happy.
And hold your enjoyment, great things are on their way, like always.
Take care.

Hi Nikos,
yesterday we had our last test flight in Aegean 1.5 with 15 Pilots. The test TE was completely rebuilt and we didn’t have any problems, it was an flawless online flight for around two hours so we can say our problems we had the last two times were issued by an porked TE (we feel certain it was caused by using Mission Commander for editing).
Anyway, thx so far for your help, we will continue with our ongoing campaign TROJAN SHADOWS (and sorry for the fact that the greeks are the evil part in it  )

Hi my friend.
Thank you for your feedback.
Very nice that you confirm that the Aegean theater v1.5 is stable.
And please your next mission to be with Hellas (Greece) as your side…
Enjoy your time there.
