X55 worth getting?

@cns - Isn’t Gary in the same timezone as you? I would recommend that the two of you get on TS3 and go through the setup. I am located on the east coast (U.S.) myself…would love to help but the time difference may be a problem.

Ok seems i have it sorted again, and think i’ve recognised the problem. The problem is when i change controller to throttle on the main setup page, when i do that, it overrides what i had previously set as throttle. I had set the throttle as X axis in advanced settings when i had stick selected as controller. Problem now is i previously had my rotaries setup. F being TGP range, G being antenna elevation, RTY 3 as HUD brightness and RTY 4 as HMCS brightness. But whenever i select a different controller on main setup page these seem to get wiped. So i have to somehow set all these up through having just the stick selected as controller, but now for some reason it seems only the 3 rotaries are detected.
-
Do not change the controller on the setup page…leave it as joystick…repeat…do not change ever.
-
haha, yep i’ve learned that lesson and hopefully now can set it up right!
-
Great! Now make your changes to your HOTAS and it should remain if you save it.
-
Ok so now as i said only 3 rotaries seem to be detected with having stick as controller on the setup page, and it is the top rotary (F) which isnt detected, which is more useful than where RTY 3 and 4 are positioned. Drac…i take it your top rotary is detected?
-
Let me turn on my computer and I will advise.
-
Ah no its ok, 3 of my rotaries show up as X,Y and Z rotation, and the top rotary shows up as Z axis, which had me confused but figured it out now, so i have those set back up again

I have SW3 set to cycle AA hardpoints, with SW4 set to cycle AG hardpoints. So if i’m in nav mode and i press SW3 will that put me into AA mode? with SW3 being pressed again to cycle my next AA weapon? when i tried these cycle modes in the basic handling TE my MFDs came up blank, im guessing thats coz theres no weapons in that TE?
The thing is once in AA or AG mode you hve to press them again on the ICP to go back to nav, seems by pressing SW3 and 4 doesnt get me back to nav.

Go to:
Setup
Advanced
Avionics Control
Range Knob (change setting to Z Axis)Let me know if this works.

Yea managed to sort that cheers Drac. I’m looking at setting my trim controls, think i should use the bowl on the stick. Up for manual trim nose down, down for nose up…but should i have left and right for manual yaw trim or roll?

Just “roll and pitch” trim…would not worry about “yaw”.

Trim “pitch and roll”…do not worry about yaw.

Ok but the problem i have now is, with the bowl the sim recognises those buttons at POV 1: Up and the rest left, right and down. I just assigned manual trim to that bowl and what it says is when i press for example the up button on the bowl, it has INPUT POV 1: Up and below it, it has Manual trim nose down. What i had in the basic handling TE was when pressing the bowl up it does manual trim nose down but also my view goes down to my seat. How can i unbind those POV controls from those bowl buttons?

Not sure about that one. I use TrackIR.

Well it seems to be when i trim left and right my view doesnt change, but when i trim up and down it does, and i cant seem to change my view back to looking at my HUD. When i try it with my mouse it just goes back to looking right up at my canopy. Also the air brakes dont seem to be much good, i can see they’re activated when i press air brakes open (by looking at external view to the rear) and deactivate with air brakes close, but the plane hardly seems to slow down at all. Guess decreasing speed is best done with throttle in conjunction with air brakes….but Drac doesnt the air brakes seem to be ineffective to you?

It depends if you have your brakes opening in increments. If you have it set for full open…you will see a difference.

Well i have binded air brakes toggle to SW5 on the throttle, so i’m guessing when i press that it toggles the air brakes to fully open, does it take a good few seconds for them to slow the plane down more rapidly?
-
Hi….
Same time zone as you know…not sure about TS3…(I’m gonna figure that out and set it up tomorrow)…but drop me a pm and I will happily send you my phone number?
Regards,
Gary

Do an outside view to see the position of the Airbrakes.
