X55 worth getting?
-
haha, yep i’ve learned that lesson and hopefully now can set it up right!
-
Great! Now make your changes to your HOTAS and it should remain if you save it.

Ok so now as i said only 3 rotaries seem to be detected with having stick as controller on the setup page, and it is the top rotary (F) which isnt detected, which is more useful than where RTY 3 and 4 are positioned. Drac…i take it your top rotary is detected?
-
Let me turn on my computer and I will advise.
-
Ah no its ok, 3 of my rotaries show up as X,Y and Z rotation, and the top rotary shows up as Z axis, which had me confused but figured it out now, so i have those set back up again
-
I have SW3 set to cycle AA hardpoints, with SW4 set to cycle AG hardpoints. So if i’m in nav mode and i press SW3 will that put me into AA mode? with SW3 being pressed again to cycle my next AA weapon? when i tried these cycle modes in the basic handling TE my MFDs came up blank, im guessing thats coz theres no weapons in that TE?
The thing is once in AA or AG mode you hve to press them again on the ICP to go back to nav, seems by pressing SW3 and 4 doesnt get me back to nav.

Go to:
Setup
Advanced
Avionics Control
Range Knob (change setting to Z Axis)Let me know if this works.

Yea managed to sort that cheers Drac. I’m looking at setting my trim controls, think i should use the bowl on the stick. Up for manual trim nose down, down for nose up…but should i have left and right for manual yaw trim or roll?

Just “roll and pitch” trim…would not worry about “yaw”.

Trim “pitch and roll”…do not worry about yaw.

Ok but the problem i have now is, with the bowl the sim recognises those buttons at POV 1: Up and the rest left, right and down. I just assigned manual trim to that bowl and what it says is when i press for example the up button on the bowl, it has INPUT POV 1: Up and below it, it has Manual trim nose down. What i had in the basic handling TE was when pressing the bowl up it does manual trim nose down but also my view goes down to my seat. How can i unbind those POV controls from those bowl buttons?

Not sure about that one. I use TrackIR.

Well it seems to be when i trim left and right my view doesnt change, but when i trim up and down it does, and i cant seem to change my view back to looking at my HUD. When i try it with my mouse it just goes back to looking right up at my canopy. Also the air brakes dont seem to be much good, i can see they’re activated when i press air brakes open (by looking at external view to the rear) and deactivate with air brakes close, but the plane hardly seems to slow down at all. Guess decreasing speed is best done with throttle in conjunction with air brakes….but Drac doesnt the air brakes seem to be ineffective to you?

It depends if you have your brakes opening in increments. If you have it set for full open…you will see a difference.

Well i have binded air brakes toggle to SW5 on the throttle, so i’m guessing when i press that it toggles the air brakes to fully open, does it take a good few seconds for them to slow the plane down more rapidly?

Hi….
Same time zone as you know…not sure about TS3…(I’m gonna figure that out and set it up tomorrow)…but drop me a pm and I will happily send you my phone number?
Regards,
Gary

Do an outside view to see the position of the Airbrakes.

@Gary- Here is where you download TS3 just scroll to bottom and click FREE DOWNLOAD……https://www.teamspeak.com/teamspeak3
Once you have it installed, at the top left you’ll see connections, click that then click connect and then for server address type: 5.9.23.136
This is the TS server for Veterans gaming and once in, you’ll see after scrolling down a bit, Falcon BMS. We can just go in one of those rooms as long as there isnt an active session in there and talk, i dont have a mic at the moment but plan to get one soon, but we can still chat by text, or you can chat with your mic if you have one and i reply by text. Appreciate your help guys…maybe we could do a MP campaign together at some point, or even train together once i have a mic.
I’ll head there now, my name on there is Sacco. If you cant find your way around once connected to the server just tell me your name on there and i’ll find you. One more thing Gary, below where you have server address you’ll see nickname, just type your name in there

@Drac- I see the difference now, takes a few seconds for the air brakes to fully open. The only real problems i’m having now are:
1. The bowl hat on the stick i set to trim up,down, left and right. But it must still be binded to look up and down too as when i trim up/down, my view changes to looking up at the canopy (looking above my head) and cant seem to correct this after, have to exit the game…though i think it just happens when i accidently press diagonal up/right or left rather than just up/right/left/down. Gonna have an experiment in a sec.
2. Looking around at my instruments/MFDs and back to HUD and zooming in/out to look at things and interact. Hats off to those who dont use head tracking gear and still play the game well. This will be solved once i get my Delan Clip.
3. The range knob- Is this just to adjust zoom for the TGP? shame its not for FCR/HSD range also, but this will be made easier when i get my Delan Clip so i can zoom in to them and just click with mouse. At the moment though i have TGL 3 and 4 set to HSD/FCR range increase/decrease.
All the rest on flying the plane and operating the systems is for me to learn through the manuals and doing the training TE’s. Starting to feel like i’m really getting into it now

Ok i noticed it before but took no notice of it, but i have to especially from whats been happening when i’ve flown this basic handling TE. When i was flying in that TE, occasionally i’ve heard the computer say chaff, flare, and i havent pressed anything. I found out where the readout is for your remaining chaff and flares and to start with i have 60 chaff, 30 flares. Well when i hear the computer say chaff/flare and look at that readout, i see i’ve expended chaff/flares (and see the flash from flares light up cockpit) but i’m pressing nothing. Then i noticed in the setup screen, you know when you press a button, it comes up with for example INPUT then say button 35, below will show what its assigned to.
Well…in the setup screen i’ve noticed i’m not pressing anything and then i’ll suddenly see a button so happen to have been pressed and it will come up. Most common one is button 64 which is assigned to ICP-NAV, and another, you guessed it is CMS forward which is what releases chaff/flare when in game, but i dont press the button. What do you think this is? please dont tell me i have a faulty X55.
